Poor color selection
Is anyone else bothered by poor color selection for both x3 and x5. For x5 it's even worse as leather selection doesn't include vernasca. For vehicle color it's even worse, no red, no orange, not even silver, I don't think anyone else have such poor color selection. When I saw colleague's glc in red color with red leather, only then I realized how poor customization selection for x3 is. Does anyone know why this is the case, bmw don't care about customization, it's too expensive to implement it in production or they just think that photonic blue is enough?

Poor Color selection
They could simply offer the X4 colors and improve the choices. It shoudn't be that hard. There are no intersting color combos on the X3

I didn't realize the X5 isn't offered in silver - that is odd. I wish the X3 came in Arctic Grey or something similar - lighter and more nuanced than Dark Graphite and darker than silver.

BMW has been lacking on their color selection for a few years now across all the model ranges.
There is no way to make everyone happy but it does seem like they've stuck to very limited color choices across the lines with very few bold choices available.

Agree, they need more options. A nice green would look good on either the X3 or X5. I like the phytonic blue, and have that on my M40i, but the lack of color is pretty bad, and unfortunately seems to be that way across the board for BMW.

I agree, too. The M40i exterior has three blacks, a silver, blue, and white (and the very expensive sandy color). IMHO, the silver and one of the blacks is not very impressive in person.
While the other colors do look great, that leaves a pretty limited choice. Interestingly, there are four additional colors available on the non-M40i X3's which include an olive, off-white, and brown. Why prohibit them from the M40i ? |

The lack of a good grey like space grey has made me sad too. That’s what I wanted, but they couldn’t even special order it since Spartanburg wasnt (or couldn’t a year ago) serup for customizations on X3’s.

I totally agree but not just on the X models. I have had four 4/3 series coupes in the last 12 years. My lease is up very soon. The 2020 440 coupe also has very limited colors. In 2020 model year they discontinued sunset orange, melbourne red and I believe a brown They also stopped 2 of the individual colors. All that is left is 2 whites, 2 blacks, silver, dark grey and Estriol blue on the M model. It was time for a change anyway so I am going with an X4 M40I in Flamenco Red with Cognac interior.

Fully agree... to certain extent PB is so dominant in poor color selection that, at least in my city, 4 out of 5 bmw x3 has it. Even worse, my combination of PB+vernasca is every second x3 I see. And let's not forget that bmw used to claim that they offer endless selection and combinations, which is not so true anymore.
Really not good as customization is important and can make difference when selecting between two cars. |

Kermez, the color choices could be different in Europe compared with North America. Please have a look at: http://gtcarlot.com/colors/BMW/All/X3/
BMW Motorrad uses the same Sparking Storm color, and this was available on the early 2018 X3 xDrive30i. In mid-late 2018, the official color name was changed from Sparkling Storm Brilliant Effekt to Dark Olive Metallic. Maybe BMW car customers were not knowledgeable about the Motorrad color names! My wife's G01 X3 is Sparking Storm Brilliant Effekt, and it is a nice color, particularly in the sun. The gold metallic flake shows well in bright lighting. |

As nice as my Dark Graphite looks, I definitely would have ordered Tasman Green or Imperial Blue over cognac had either been available. I like my wife's Phytonic Blue, but I like the darker navy blue color.

Always revert to the idea that they are trying to maximize vehicle volume and throughput from plant to retail inventory. Therefore, they believe these colors will turn the inventory fastest. I fear they consider SAV buyers to be a drab bunch. Look at what they offer coupes and M models of cars.

I'd be right behind you. Would love to have an iX3 in Valencia Orange to match my 2 Series!
