Hi all
Went through the forums and couldn't find many X4s so thought I'd share some pics of anyone is thinking of this combination. Ordered the X4 M40i in Sophisto grey with Individual Tartufo merino and brushed aluminum trim. Most of the showroom cars have either black or Cognac Dakota leather so it was a bit of gamble but it's turned out looking great. Decided not to wait for the MY20 build because the individual leather takes longer to get a build slot and there was still a lot of speculation of what the MY20s would have at the time. Thought the dash looks good with the silver plastic rings and ID7 didn't have enough of a difference (at least currently) to push out the build any further. The car has also just had Feynlab paint protection applied including on the cerium bits which won't keep the spots away but is supposed to make it easier to keep clean. Next is tinting but don't want it to be too dark so would be great if anyone has recommendations or even better, pics of lighter tints on Sophisto grey. Thanks for reading |

Welcome on board! Nice pics, congrats on the car! Funny how orange the Tartuffo looks.

Really nice interior, I opted for Ivory White Merino with wood for my X4.
What I really like in Merino seats is diamond decoration, it pumps your car up to upper trim (like in 7 series). Quote:
Actually I had an opportunity to buy stock X4 25d with and got a pics of it. It is definitely not looking orange-ish, more brownish - I would say. Unofrtunately, car was lacking a lot of equipment like HK, HUD, wireless, full digital dash so I decided to build my own. |

I've seen a swatch of Tartufo, it looks much more brown than the photos, is this the case? As with Saddle and Cognac these colours are hard to render with accurate colour.

However, I am not wearing jeans, rather cotton ones. They look like new. PS. Tartufo will also get stain over the time, you will easily see that as soon as you will wear jeans. The only leather color resistant for getting marks is black. Every other color will show marks. |

The problem with jeans is the jeans themselves. We get blue transfer onto out green fabric covered sofa. It can be removed relatively easily though but don't let it build up too much.

Great colour...I'm very tempted by Tartufo with silver, white or sophisto on an X3 M40i
White looks mega but I live in an English Victorian / Edwardian conservation area. A mix of the light here and the area context results in white being a bit too showy. It does look great with the black exterior trim and moonroof. Sophisto Grey - restrained and classy but loses the contrast with the black trim and moonroof. Silver, a good exterior compromise, easy to keep and provides that contrast, perhaps the least good with Tartufo though? Still ok though, it think... Charlie, I wonder whether you went through a similar process in choosing your X4? Last edited by clivem2; 08-26-2019 at 05:14 AM.. |

Congrats on the car, looks great. If you're curious how tint looks here's mine in dark graphite. I have factory tint in the rear and the dealer did the front. Not sure its level, but it's not as dark as the factory. See have reported dash display brightness issues with tinting the front, I've had no issues.

With the interior, really hadn't considered anything other than black but when we saw a sophisto grey with ivory merino we decided we had to go with the merino option. Ivory looks amazing but as previously mentioned was concerned it might be a bit harder to maintain and is quite a bold combination if you're after a more conservative look. Previously had a 335i cabrio in silver with the coral red so always associated the red with a (proper) coupe or convertible... which only left the Tartufo. There was an 8 series in Tartufo in the showroom which looked good so kinda hoped it would look as good on the X4 and it's worked well |

Noticed in your first pic that the area around the light switches is in a brown colour? Is that the same as the seats and did the car come with that or is that an aftermarket change? Or is it a trick of the light?

Hey .. @Charliexcx4 .. i'm currently in the market to get BMW X4 and looking at Merino Tartufo - unfortunately with the lockdown in Sydney i can't do much for real except look at pictures.
I just wanted to know the actual colour of it - is it as orange as it looks in pictures? also how has the wear/tear been for you since you've had it .. One more question, what's the rear seat finish like - i've read the stitching/stretching isn't up to scratch from BMW .. is that true? My wife n kids think this colour will be distracting and introduces too much colour in the cabin .. how have you experienced it? Thanks mate! |

I don't know about Tartufo, but I had similar concerns about congnac - but it is not orange at all and looks great. Very hard to photograph.

I didn't know about Cognac .. is it similar or exactly the same as Tartufo? .. seems a shade lighter ..
Cognac seems to be in the Vernasca leather, whereas Tartufo is merino. I would assume cognac finish is tighter and harder .. (and frankly i don't mind that as i have kids who'll be getting in and out).. Yeah i have never owned a light interior car, specially brown/orange-ish... so you know how they say have a neutral color so its not striking at you all the time .. How has it worn for you? |

Love the shot with HMAS Adelaide (L01) in background or is it HMAS Canberra (L02) ?
Or both.. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/HMAS_Adelaide_(L01) https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/HMAS_Canberra_(L02)

Also the Varnesca leathers grain is more coarse compared to the Merino leather. I have attached a picure of my cognac Varnesca leather. I still like the Sophisto grey paint in combination with the cognac leather. |
