The 4 reasons why I sold the BMW M2 Competition
Check out this owner's review, and the 4 reasons why he sold the BMW M2 Competition after a few months of ownership. looking through his channel, he had the following mods on the car:
- MP front grill - MP front lip - MP side grille - MP side winglets - MP rear spoiler - MP rear diffuser - MP V2 steering wheel - AA exhaust - HRE 300 classic wheels - Eventuri CF intake He bought the M2C after selling FK8 Type R, and he sold M2C for AMG... His beef with M2C are: - numb steering feel - non engaging clutch/shifting feel - auto rev matching - understeering going into corner |

The Internet. Legitimizing insanity since 1995.
I could be completely wrong but I don't think people who EARN money, are capable of wasting it this quickly. |

most reviewers said the m2c has a tendecy to want to oversteer from all the power. I never heard of anyone complain about understeer on the m2c.
i havent driven the m2 or m2c but i drove my buddies m235i at 70% (since not my car) and i never had a problem with understeer. I thought the front had a lot of traction, i'm sure the m2 and m2c is even tigher then a m235i. if the guys coming from fwd cars...he's probably use to trail braking instead of throttle steer. i can see the m2c understeer with heavy trail braking or late braking. |

if he got the civic type r at a good price...he probably had equity in it. M2c's are still selling close to msrp...so he probably didn't lose any money by trading in the m2c and getting the amg. if the numbers make sense..its pretty easy to switch cars without losing too much money.

I didn't watch the video but going off OP's list of why he sold it and going into an AMG has my head scratching...again I don't know which car he chose..
I've had AMGs before and unless he really likes their gearboxes (I personally don't) his not going to have anymore fun. M cars shit over AMGs as a driver's car and man oh man the steering feel was numb |

Mostly legit except not sure on the understeer. UCP and shifter can probably help the shift feel. Coding off rev match also. That leaves the steering which is well known to be just okay.

Agree. However, you would think a person complaining about shift feeling, steering feel etc would jump into a porsche for example, not to a manufacturer that only makes autos.

Steering is numb, but not THAT numb.. obviously steering and shifting is better in the gt4 but they’re also different price brackets.
Never experienced my OG wanting to understeer in a corner. Car is so tail happpy. M over AMG every day of the week and twice on Sunday |

For a car that comes stock with staggered tires, I'm constantly amazed at how little understeer is present in corners. I think this guy has three problems:
1. He may not be a very good driver, or he just doesn't understand the driving terms well, and is using the wrong terms to describe some issues that he has controlling the car, in the same way that folk that don't understand physics very well misuse Torque and Horsepower when describing how their car feels at various rev points. Nothing wrong with that, but it can lead to folk describing legitimate issues with the wrong terminology. 2. He's altered the car. Also nothing wrong with that, of course, but even changing your wheels out can alter the driving dynamics of the car and he may be complaining about problems he caused. Savagegeese has a great video about how people ruin their S2000's. 3. Expecting a car in this price range to match cars that were twice as expensive when new (or more). I have friends with Civics. They don't expect their cars to be better than my car when it comes to driving dynamics. I don't expect my car to be better than a GT2 RS. Complaining about one of the few remaining manuals and then buying an automatic is a bit weird. He loses a lot of credibility there. I am on the fence about keeping my car long term, and if I don't keep it, I hope I make the decision for better reasons than he did (but I can be an idiot and get all obsessed about some minor flaw here and there, too). |

There are barely any manual transmission cars left relative to the amount of cars sold so I don't get it when people complain about the shifting. Sure maybe it's not Porsche good but if that's your benchmark then you pretty well should be purchasing Porsche's exclusively. Another thing is that every time a new car comes out that's Auto only the enthusiast whine and complain "no manual no care" and when a manufacturer like BMW continues to offer the manual transmission option (that's still pretty good BTW) some enthusiasts still whine that the shifting isn't Porsche perfect. You can understand why most automobile manufacturers are now starting to focus solely on bread and butter commuter cars because it's simply impossible to make enthusiasts happy because as a group we have largely become a bunch of whiners.
As far as the auto rev matching goes I wage that 80% of people that complain about it can't properly heel and toe in the first place and just complain because Chris Harris and other reviewers negatively comment on it. Who is this guy anyway and why would anyone heed his advice when making a major automobile purchase? As soon as he mentions understeer as a negative it pretty well confirms he can't drive. Maybe I'm driving it wrong, but I get lots of oversteer -- fun, manageable oversteer if MDM is on -- but never understeer.
It looks like drivers better than me have encountered understeer, though: https://www.autoevolution.com/news/b...vy-129290.html |

It only oversteered once he put the wrong wheel and tire combo on it.

The manual gearbox is poor, shift quality is vague and rubbery. My 1999 M Coupe has a nicer action and BMW have always struggled with manual box shift on 6cyl cars.
One of the issues with the steering I find is a slight lack of self centering leads to an odd feeling. So I can kind of see where hes coming from. |

Who defends it is either driving his first manual or hasn’t tried a quality one. Steering wheel isn’t too terrible. Not the best for spirited driving but actually perfect for city driving |

I can live with the other stuff but the lack of steering feel bothers me.
