MPE on eBay

Just thought I’d let people know there’s a dealership selling the MPE on eBay for $542 + $28 shipping. It’s the older version (which I’ve read is not as loud?) but still a good deal. Just received mine and it came with the SS polished tips welded on already too. The seller is centerbmw.

The tips are welded on? I thought they are slipped on like the stock ones.

Enjoy the life of driving sport mode more often though.

Haha I’m looking forward to it! When I emailed the seller they said tips weren’t included so I ordered some from another dealer on eBay... guess I gotta return those now. I’ll post some pics in this thread tomorrow of the welded on tips

I've heard that the muffler they're selling is the "quieter" version of the MPE but im curious to hear how it sounds because i might buy it. Would you mind posting a vid of yours once you get it installed?

Sure thing. I didn't want anything super loud anyways since I'm going to be putting my DP back on soon, hopefully the combination will sound good enough. I'm going to install the MPE on Monday.

Garage List
Must be the older design has welded on tips because the new design has seperate tips, polished or cf, that slide over the muffler outlet pipes and clamp with a set screw

Yup I remember reading someone else's post saying they had the old design and the tips were riveted on. I guess you had to choose whether to rivet or weld the old tips since there is no set screw.

Got the MPE installed today... took me about an hour start to finish. It defintely has a deeper tone to it, but it's not too much louder than stock. I'm going to install my HFC after my smog test and hopefully that'll give me the exhaust note I'm looking for.

My friend's 335i has the same exterior color, spoiler, diffuser, and vintage CA plate. AND he has a MPE, different tip tho

Didn't CA recent change the law where we don't need to smog the car until the 8th year off the factory? There is a $20 smog abatement fee in my renewal fee this year

Haha that's awesome! I didn't know about the smog abatement thing in CA... that would be good since I wouldn't have to smog for two years!

Yea that $20 is the trade off of having extra 3 years of "fun" time. So theoretically you should install the bolt-ons you mentioned!

Hey Joe

I think CA just changed it this year to 8...

Vehicles registered in areas subject to the biennial smog certification program are required to submit evidence of a smog certification every other renewal period. Owners of vehicles eight or less model years old will pay an annual smog abatement fee for the first eight registration years instead of being required to provide a biennial smog certification.

https://www.dmv.ca.gov/portal/dmv/de...smogfaq#BM2535

Hope I understand this correctly
