Hi, I'm a new Bimmer and this is basically my very first post here, and I hope you could enlighten me. I have had my car for a month, CPO, and it's amazing (I know it's the most basic BMW I could get but I'm still in awe by it). A few days ago, I had the 6.5" replaced with an Avin 10.25" screen and I couldn't be any happier with the result. However, just today, the "check engine light" came off and I probably would need to bring it to my dealer. Will the Avin screen void the car warranty or will there be an issue if I take it to my dealer? I hope you guys could help me, thank you.

No you will be fine with that mod.

They would have to prove your mod made the check engine light come and cause the issue.

Just be careful when moving your engine or exhaust system until your CPO coverage is over.

I have done a lot of mods to my car but nothing to the engine or exhaust and I just had some CPO work done with no issues.

You can go to your local parts store and use their engine code reader and look up the code that you find to see what the issue is before going to the dealer if you want.

i highly doubt that a check engine light can come on due to a new nav screen installation. I don't think you need to worry.

Thanks so much guys, I appreciate the response. And good to know that the screen is not gonna affect it, haha. It was due to the gas cap, I tightened it (based off what I read online) and voila, no more engine warning light.

if it is under cpo do get it checked out unless you are absolutely sure it was the gas cap.

When modding, it's great to have an app like Bimmerlink so you can read (and reset) error codes that may come up.

making one mod doesn't void your entire warranty. it could void it for whatever you modified.
