I've been lurking for a few weeks, this is my first post. Soon to be new BMW owner, defected from Mercedes. Always wanted a Bimmer since seeing the E30 M3s back in the early 90s.

I couldn't seem to find the right 540i here in New England so I ended up factory ordering one. Based on other threads seems like I got a pretty good deal, but had to play a little hardball with the dealer to get to the final price:

2019 540i xdrive
Mediterranean Blue / Beige Dakota Leather
M Sport Pkg w/19" run flat
M Sport brakes
Harmon Kardon
Heated steering wheel
All weather floor mats

MSRP w/destination: $68,320

Sales price after discounts/rebates: $60,832

Got a good allocation, maybe it's the time of year? Started production next day. Looking at maybe early to mid March for delivery I'm thinking.

I order my car in mid to late Nov, got the car in first week of Jan (dealer was promising last week of Dec, car did get to the US in time, but with all the holiday what not it was just in service center forever)

I just got a 540 in December in Mediterranean blue. Great color and fun car.

nice.. price.. so from these forums I see eveeyone is easily getting 7-8K. BELOW MSRP.. hmm.. I am looking for a 1 years old 540i and MSRP 65K is selling for 42K. like this one .

That car looks like a good deal based on the miles and options. My wife wouldn't give her blessing if the interior was black (I don't mind it) so it limited my options considerably.

That sounds great, you're getting some options I wanted but had to keep the cost down. Let us know when the order is live. One thing I learned is the "conquest" credit is a real thing. My dealer mentioned it before I could ask when he learned that I owned two Mercedes and this was my first BMW.

I would add the spare tire for $150 even though you are getting run flats. It's a deal and removable if you want. Cost around $800 afterwards.
I also noticed no heated steering wheel. Only $190 and I love mine esp if your in the northeast.

Thanks. I had to sacrifice some options too. You got xDrive. I am not getting that. I decided to get the M Sport package instead. I want XDrive, but I can't t fit both in my budget.

I have an M3 now, so a RWD 540i with all seasons is still an improvement when it comes to driving in the winter. Well, at least that's my rationale...

I'm getting a good deal too. 7% off of MSRP plus $2K loyalty rebate.

Understand. I like the option of being able to get non run flats in the future. I also like the storage cubbies you get but most of all I've never had a car that didn't have a jack. I wish I got the 3D cameras like your getting. They were left off by mistake and then BMWNA wouldn't add them. You can see I'm a pack rat.

Yeah, I was actually torn between the parking assistance package and ceramic controls.

Since I have an M3 right now, which is more performance oriented, I wanted this car to be more luxurious. So all along, I thought I wanted ceramic controls. Definitely getting leather dashboard...

However, at the last minute, I decided to switch Ceramic Controls with the Parking Assistance package instead. They're basically the same price, and I think I'll be happier with this decision.

I appreciate your post because it supports my line of thinking...

Seriously having an M3 in PA hasn't been as bad as I thought it would.

I can easily live with a 540.

Plus, I can always take my wife's SUV to work on bad weather days...

Update - the car arrived at the port in NJ on 3/4. I noticed it left the port early today so I called my dealer and they say it's expected at the dealer tomorrow 3/8. Looks like I'll be going in Saturday morning to pick her up. Only thing worrying me is we have a lot of snow on the ground here and it's going to be warming up Saturday (melting). (you know what that means).
