Backend flash + Jb4?
For those of you who use a backend flash tune such as dme tune + Jb4 can you tell me in a detailed form what exactly the Jb4 does in this scenario?
It's my understanding that they are both tunes. One is a flash and one is a piggyback. So why would anyone use both? Also how do they work together? |

Well a backen flash is just for eliminating all engine restriction and help jb4 work better, but it doesn't give u any HP. If u use a flash with increase in power the JB4 my do some over spooling of the turbo and close your throttle body.. contact MO at DME for better explanation.. take it from me that I ruin my stage 2 pure turbos that way.. Pure turbo did repaired them without cost as a favor since this is not there fault( excellent service ) and they were the ones how advise me to call MO.

So the dme tune adds 140+ horsepower. Not sure how but that's how it's advertised. The Jb4 does similar 80+ horsepower gain but I know that people use both at the same time? How is that possible wouldn't they contradict what which one is trying to do? |

You also get the Jb4 features like code reading and deleting, datalog, boost by gear, boost by RPM, etc..

The JB4 lets you change boost profiles on the fly, layer in extra safety systems that are not practical flash only, adjust boost by gear on the fly (important for keeping the AWD drive train alive on launches), data logging to your phone, adjust for octane and E85 differences, etc. It's a great tuning tool to have whether you run the stock flash like most do or an aftermarket flash.

Not sure. We are gonna find out. I made a thread not that long ago on this sub. With a baseline Dyno from my stock f90. Gonna do another one on the same Dyno after the tune and parts, see what we get. |

The back end dme tune should solve the throttle closure issues that the car experiences even when stock based on running lean, air fuel ratio, etc.
Each stage tune adds a few psi, but if you have the jb4, just get the stage 1, which should add 120hp/147tq, then use the jb4 to run a higher psi map if you decide to use race gas for a bit. I havent heard many complain about it, but my jb4 is/was buggy as all hell with aggressive driving, putting me into map 4 valet mode because it was losing the battle of telling the cpu what to do, shutting the throttle based on air/fuel conditions to protect the car. Im interested to see how much it improves. 750hp and mid 10’s should be the goal. |

I want the benefits of the dme stage 2 but I also want to run race gas every now and then and have the engine be able to identify the gas and boost more in those certain situations |

Not for me. I had a lot of trouble with dme from the beginning. Never was able to get it to work right.
I just use Jb4 on its own., and it works great. Map 1 is kinda moderate. But map 5 and map 7 are pretty insane. |

For 91 octane I'd only run map1 or in some cases map2. Nice feature of the JB4 is it's ability to data log so you can test things like 20% E85 mix, octane booster, various fuels, and use the logs to tell you if the engine is happy with it.

I second that. I only use map one with the California shitty 91 pump gas. Map 5 and map 7 I use MS 109 and man do those maps MOVVVEEE.

I've got dme and JB4 parallel, works very good for me but I can't seem to figure out a bogus cel code which isn't reading anything but tends to not want to go away ever. I like JB4 bc it gives me the options to data log my car which is very important when you tune your car or run race fuels so I know how my car is running. Does anyone else have the the issue with cel code not going away?
