BMW Advanced Eye 2.0 dashcam
Has anyone considered these to be fitted during the cars PDI process at the dealers. I know they aren’t the best on sale but look OEM and v2 looks better.

I had the dealer install it for me ready for delivery. Agreed, not the best quality on the market, but worth it to me to have one throat to choke if it doesn't work or causes battery problems. So far, so good.

Yes, ACE 2.0 is both cameras, front and rear. I haven't seen it offered as just one camera.

Sucks and its weird. I can go to many stores here similar to "best buy" and purchase dash cams, so, it cannot be fully illegal... Really wanted to have this and am still pondering how to make it work... Anyone in Switzerland here in the forum too, care to speculate or talk about your dash cam setup? Thanks, X3inZug |

Thanks for the pictures I have heard stories about the location on the passenger side and this confirms it. I don’t know why they don’t put it closer to the rear view mirror, maybe this is a technical reason or space ?
Does this not block the view for the front seat passenger ? |

Shouldn't it be just below the mirror? Seems like a pretty odd location...and it's HUGE!
Get yourself a Blackvue or Thinkware. Both great devices, much smaller, dependable and some models are less expensive than the BMW version. My 2 cents

My 5y old dashcam got nicked, because of accidental key fob push-and-hold (see other thread), on my drive way. Here push and hold also bring down all windows. Easy to grab sunnies, some change, and the dash cam.

With all the bloody cameras in these modern vehicles I wonder why they don't just integrate it into the cameras in the rear view mirror :-/ . I'd pay for that. One can hope ...

Agreed the camera looks big in the photos from the angle and distance taken, but having lived with it for a month I can tell you it really isn't that obtrusive for the passenger. I'm not sure why they don't mount it nearer to the rear-view mirror, as that would be the obvious thing to do. I do recall the fitting instructions recommend the placement that's in these photos.
As for using the cameras integrated in the vehicle, I think there are (at least) two barriers to that happening. First, the cameras in the G01 aren't good enough quality to reliably record licence plates, which is crucial, particularly at night. Second, there are countries where recording isn't allowed so it would have to be a configurable option. |

I made the mistake of getting the Advance eye 2, don't get me wrong, it is ok as far as the video goes, but mine was showing the wrong time and when I looked at where the car was parked, it placed it in the wrong county!! When I tried to look at the footage on a PC, BMW's own Dash Cam player refuses to play it. When I ask BMW why it is showing the wrong time of day or why it has put the parked car in the wrong county, (for a start BMW UK refuse to talk to me and insist I go through the dealer, who have no idea how this works, but they also say the thing is working as it should!!!! !!! So my advise, get the Blackvue fitted, far better PC software and it put the correct time of day and who knows, might even have customer service that care once they have your money. This is my 6th (and last) BMW.
