Deliveries are just starting to trickle in so not many dealerships sitting with both. I had driven the M5 Base but ordered M5 Competition w/o ever driving one.

As an M5 Competition owner, I find the suspension in comfort mode to be more harsh than in my M3. On the open road no problem, but in the city it's really tough.

As a regular M5 owner with 19” rims I find the ride in comfort mode perfectly plush! In sport plus mode it’s tight and firm but not so hard to rattle my fillings out of my teeth.. it’s the perfect blend, soft if you want or stiff if you want..I also love the way the 19” wheels look compared to the 20”.. they are also better for the crappy Boston roads and are much lighter than the 20”..

I find my M5C comfortable for most situations in comfort mode. No worse than my S4 around town and fine on the highway. Even on the stiffest setting it's not as bad as my STi with BC Coil overs. Go for the M5C, you won't regret it.

Funny I had an STi for 14 years and think at low speeds the m5 comp hits the limit of its suspension on an manhole when the STi did not.

Test driven both on the same road for 2 days. M5 is right on the edge of comfort long distance cruiser for me, whilst M5C introduced a fair bit of harshness as well as NVH through out the cabin and steering wheel. Butt dyno cant' tell the diff in performance at all! Not on public road. Decided to pull the trigger on the M5 instead, as the M5C sacrifices too much for gain too little.
