I picked up my mbb m5 comp pack today from the Welt!! My wife and I did this delivery with our kids, which is very different than the first two deliveries we did without them. I got to take my boys on the factory tour and we had a blast. Our kids didn't know we were getting a new car until the actual delivery and all three of them ran into the back seat and strapped on seatbelts before my wife and I even made it down the steps!

I will write a better review on my take on the car after I get home, but I put 200 miles on the car today and had it up to about 130 briefly on the autobahn. You all have heard about the power already, but it truly is infectious in this car. It definitely drives smaller than I thought it would. It is also much louder than I imagined. I had test driven two regular m5's in the last few months and felt the cabin was very isolated. The comp pack car with the asd button on in sport plus for engine is pretty loud. The exhaust note isn't as inspiring as an amg, but I am also not really looking for more just yet. Maybe that will change, but I live in a small neighborhood and I think this is probably as loud as my neighbors would want when the car is in sport plus. It is definitely more docile acoustically when in comfort with the asd off and can be driven to mimic a normal 5er. I am very pleased with the sound as I was thinking after my test drives I would need an aftermarket solution. My kids thought the car sounded like a race car, but then again, they are kids and not the best critics...

While the car is pretty big compared to my previous m3s, it doesn't feel big at speed. I can't wait to carve up some mountain roads to really get a feel for the handling as most of my driving today was just autobahn. I will say that it is very confidence inspiring at speed. Besides being completely stable, the steering feels at least as good as my f80 m3 did. I'm not sure why so many people say it is numb. I never really expected it to be Porsche-like, but there is enough feedback that you know where the wheels are at all times and that the front end is easily holding the line you've chosen. I'm sure on a track, this might be different, but on the road, it is pretty sweet.

Side note: my wife and I used the seat massagers, and while they could be better, they did keep the muscular fatigue at bay. Also figured out how to use the rear seat entertainment with an old iPhone streaming downloaded iTunes movies and Netflix shows for the kids, which was a total life saver today.

Now my only worry is having to wait to get my car sent back to the states in a few days... the next 2 months are going to be brutal!

Enjoy the beast while you can.
That 2 months will kill you though.
I hope you still have the others M cars to enjoy in the meantime.

Very nice and enjoy that car! Last European delivery for our family was in 2015 for an M4 and my wife's 2016 Volvo XC 90. We benefited from Volvo covering two tickets on airfare for that whirlwind trip! My son had a great time then however would enjoy the experience all the more now at 10 years old.

Tomorrow morning I'll book our family's summer trip to Europe 2019 before losing Lufthansa reward miles. We will be towing a two year old this go around along with his older brother. lol I know a better deal can be had on the M5 stateside yet am still considering incorporating a delivery at Welt next summer.

We loved our ride to Berchtesgaden and still smile thinking back on our adventure! Hope you and your family build the same memories!

Safe travels

Thanks! The headaches of traveling with kids are well worth it to watch through their eyes all the new experiences! Our youngest turns four next month so our kids are a great age right now for listening to their stream of consciousness. They constantly keep us laughing. I'm sure whether you do euro delivery or not, you guys will have a blast, but probably a bit more fun in your brand new m5!!

awesome color and congrats on the euro delivery!

I also agree about the massage seats. When I first turned it on I was like, is that it? even on the highest setting it was barely perceptible.

Awesome family vacation, oh and the car aint bad! Seriously, go on vacation with your young kids before they hit school proper, its cheaper (going during school year) and less crowded. Wish I did that, now I'm stuck with summer/spring break/Christmas only, like everyone else.
