1/4 Mile Drag - M5 v 911 Turbo S v GTR

Another video where the M5 is poorly launched, well given the data not launched at all.

0-60mph in 3.5 seconds. Seriously.

Given what we have seen before the M5 would of and should of kept up.

If only there was someone decent behind the wheel.

What do you guys think?

Given all the poorly launched M5 I think BMW should work on their LC and make it more idiot proof. I'm seriously tired of seeing all loses are blamed on driver error

I don't get it. Why wouldn't they do a redo since its obvious that the car didn't launch properly? Is it to sabotage the M5s reputation or that they just don't know any better?

+1

LC is worth 0.4 second reduction in the 1/4 vs stabbing the pedal.

Honestly - it kind of is. The key is to remember every time you switch back to a normal setting - DSC is back on.

If you program your M2 with the full settings - including S3 - and simply press that M2 button before racing - you are not in launch control. You still have to press and hold the traction control button until DSC comes off.

Then you are good to go. So correctly setup M2 button - plus traction control button hold for 3-5 seconds. Roll up to tree. Hit brakes with increasing pressure left foot and hold. Right foot gas full. Wait for tree lights to fall.

Go.

Either way, impressive how it keeps up with these 2 cars.
