Seat cooling

Is it just me.....or is the seat cooling pretty weak? I mean..I live in Texas...where it is 95-105 for pretty much 5 months straight...so they are on whenever I am driving...but they seem to not be very functional. And yes, the seat fan is turned up to high.

I had the same issue with my 750i. Weak cooling, nuclear fusion for seat heating. Even on low, my ass would fry like an egg on a Texas sidewalk in July!

I find it not too strong either on high and often have to check if it's on...

Me too, it is weak, sometimes i’m not sure it is really doing anything other than making the fan sound louder.

IMO, the seat coolers only work in the first 5 mins, after that it will get warmer since your running elec., motors, etc. in the seat, thus it will be worse.

So I only run it for a few minutes and shut it off.

Garage List
2024 BMW X7 M60  [10.00]
The problem is that they aren't actually 'cooling' seats. They are just ventilated. So basically, on a really hot day, all they are doing is blowing the really hot air around.

I thought mine weren't working well either, then I drove it for a couple days with it off and I could tell my seats were much warmer. My take is they don't really cool you down as much as they just make the seats more comfortable.

Sadly, it's just a fan that draws air from under the seat. It will help to blast some AC at the floorboards but the poor performance of the seat cooling system is really inexcusable.

Proper seat cooling systems actually draw air from the AC.

Yep...kinda sad, BMW.

My previous Ford Shelby GT350 had actual cooled seats that worked really well.

I don't get it.

This is upsetting. My Escalade cooling seats are amazing. I don't go anywhere without them.

I disagree my 15 escalade also sucks in the seat cooling department.
The AC condenser heats up after a while. Unless mine are messed up maybe

common discussion on BMW's..... Ford has better seat cooling....

That being said, I'd rather have the crappy seat cooling in a BMW over a Ford, Cadillac, etc any day of the week.

I have the same opinion of the seat ventilation. My wife's yukon denali can keep your beer cold between your legs!

That said, I have found that i feel much cooler air blowing when I get in with a sweaty shirt from the gym.

Get out and exercise!

Anyone experience noise issue with ventilated seat ? When it's on the system make a very irritating buzz noise and I just can't keep it on even when the music on. Passenger seat is absolutely fine

However, the argument can be made that we pay a premium to have our cars work better in all aspects than a Ford/Chevy/Hyundai.

Sadly, this has not been the case for a decade.

The statement "I'd rather drive with weaker xxx, then drive a standard brand"... is what the premium auto makers have been betting on (and winning).

First time poster. I just got my M5 a few weeks ago with 6k miles. Just noticed a buzz in the seat that went away when I turned the vented seat off. Did some feeling around and with vent on left thigh bolster pressure will increase decrease sound ie I can feel the fan rubbing in the seat. Was going to call the dealer.
