Could be lpfp or hpfp. Try reading codes, these cars usually tell you exactly what's wrong with it.

You can buy a reader for like $20 or you could use mhd or another software which can read BMW specific codes which is nice. If you own a BMW it's an essential tool. Most auto parts stores will also scan your car for free.
