I’ve just chased my dealer. Said all on track for my delivery in 6 weeks time...

The M5 Competition has been moving backwards and forwards over the last few days and is currently looking to be the same as indicated - very late September in to very early October. In the next couple of weeks I would expect to see the date stabilise.

Sounds like your dealer has swapped your slot with someone else, and bullshiting there way out of it.

Yes that's the only thing I could think of. I'd go in-person and demand an explanation.

Nope , not the case. They offered to changed the wheels to 706 M and keep my slot (week 36) and swap wheels in jan or keep the 789M and get the slot moved to jan 19

That is weird that they say are telling you the wheels are an issue when many models with the same wheels have already been delivered to the USA.

I originally said he was a troll. However I think his dealer is taking him for a ride. He said a few weeks ago on an M2 post that he didn’t have a delivery date. Now his dealer is saying this. Poor guy. I apologise.

This must be my issue as well. My car started assembly on July 27 and is still being assembled 18 days later. It does not take 18 days to assemble an M5. I called the genius line yesterday and the guy I spoke to was baffled as well as to what was going on with my car. Like josec70 my car has an estimated completion date of 8/20 which from the start made no sense since it was supposed to be a week 30 build (week of 7/23).

My car has been in production since exactly July 23rd as well; my understanding is that it not unusual for it to sit in 150 status for up to 30 days. Spoke to CA today who stated he knew nothing about this.

Yes, but that's not the case with my car. It was in 150 status, and then went through the body and paint shops which I believe are status 151 and 152. The chassis supposedly was then put on the assembly line to begin assembly on the 27th. But as I said before, it's still showing "Assembly in Progress" 18 days later and it does not take that long to build the car. Something's off but nobody can tell me what the issue is.

Certainly a different situation than mine which is stuck at 150. Dealer and genius seem to have the exact information w/o either being able to provide much outside what their screens show.

I would have to assume there's a way to inquire directly w/ the factory regarding a specific delay; maybe via the dealer?

Keep us posted.

Could this be "Holiday shut down".

Plants shut down for a large part of August. I believe facilities open back up next Monday, Aug. 20 and everything is back to normal in terms of production.

My salesperson says that Dingolfing doesn't shut down any more, but I don't know if he really knows or just saying it.

I feel you bro

my car was expeceted to be february production(ordered in october 2017), BMW has moved my slot back and forward and I ended up having my car delivered in June. There was no real reason as U.S. residents got their cars prior to me even if they ordered much more after.

It's just BMW and their treating of some countries.

BMW genius said my car was scheduled for build completion in the end of August...it went into production the last week of July. So I'm assuming the August plant shutdown at Dingolfing is still happening.
