Carbon Ceramic Breaks

Got offered a good deal on an 18 as my dealer can't get an allocation for a 19 yet. Only issue is that the 18 has CCB's on then and I'm hearing mixed things about them. I don't plan on tracking and I live in New York where the winters are wet and cold. Is it really that bad to have them? Any guidance would be greatly appreciated.

Not bad to have them at all. Just expensive for initial purchase and if you need to replace them. Otherwise, no brake dust! They may be a little slower to grip when they are cold, but that really just means your first braking, which you should be vigilant of. As long as you ride the brakes a bit to get them up to temp, they are fine.

The CCBs are superior and if you plan to keep car for many years then they pay for themselves - that is assuming you don't track the vehicle.

I am getting a 3 year lease and I am getting ccb. I have never tried them before and this way I get to try them and only pay for 1/2 of them.

I am sure they are fine, BMW wouldn't put them out for sale in those areas if CCBs are dangerous in snow/rain.

Very good point. Germany is very Northern. Actually very similar Latitude as Edmonton, Alberta. Why would they build a car in their country that they couldn't even use?

Same reason they build one with incorrect gas tank readings . Just saw on another thread that all M5's are being recalled for this. I hope it's not true.

My first "M" with CCB and they are great I don't track either, but these brakes are so good and NO brake dust at all.
