Night Vision with Pedestrian Detection
Does anyone have this feature? Is it a waste of money or worth having? Also is it automatically always on or do you need to activate it (coming from an Audi where you need to turn it on). Thoughts?

I had it on my X5M and getting it on my 19 M5. I live out on an acreage so putting it on at night is nice to have. It will pick up animals from far away. I started to use it more when I drove in the city at night. The screen would sometimes mistaken something else as a pedestrian, but in the end, I found it helpful for safety. X5M screen was so far on the side that it took your eyes off the road. I wish it would put up a small warning in the HUD. I don't think I received the full value out of the cost, but then, I don't want to. I don't want to be in a close situation.

I have night vision on my X5M. It works at night just hit the button for night vision. If you do not activate night vision, a picture of a person or deer will pop up on the regular head up display in yellow or red depending on how close you are to the object. The animals (deer) or pedestrian show up on night vision in yellow, if you are very close you should receive a beeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeep and a red vision.
One time I thought the NV was malfunctioning because it started beeping loud and showing a picture of a deer. So I stopped and realized the deer was right on the passenger side of the car. Last edited by secretariat; 08-06-2018 at 03:41 PM.. |

I had night vision on my F10 and have it now on my F90. Its been invaluable for me, because I do a lot of wildlife photography, and need to be out and about before sunrise. I've had a number of close encounters with deer adjacent to the road or on it, and this has always given me ample warning.
For those that were unsure whether it turned on automatically, the answer is yes, at sunset, and off at sunrise. In addition, I turn on the central display, because i can pick things out far in advance that way. It's not something everybody needs, but in my case, it provides an added awareness when driving at night. |
