Is the M2C the best choice for 55k?

I just sold my M240i to upgrade to a M2C. Military Offer 1.pdf From the attached offer you can see I can get a M2C for 55k out the door, no tax, and free shipping back to the states. If I order this week, dealer told me I can expect mid-August delivery.

Here in Germany I can get similar discounts, which is about 10% off, no tax, and free shipping from Audi, Mercedes, Honda, Toyota, Ford,Dodge, and other BMW models. I would love a Porsche, but they do not have a military program. The used market is zero for U.S. spec Porsches, but full of 320s. There is quite a few M3s and M4s for sale new and used but for 55k they would be used 2015-2016 models.

So is the M2C the best car/choice for the price of 55k? Am I making the right decision?

The M2C is a much better choice than a used M3 or M4. I would drive an Audi RS3 before you make your final decision. I don’t think you could go wrong with either an M2C or an RS3.

Mil sales is the way to go. In my opinion, it will take you 2-3 years before you lose money on the purchase, that's assuming you ship it back to the states and sell it there when the time comes. I also got $54k OTD and it's a steal compared to what you would have to pay in the US, that's the way I look at it.

Do you not like your gt350? What type of discount did you get in Germany? I considered the grass 350 but I really don’t like the interior.

I really like my 350. It sounds good and kills corners even with me not pushing it too hard. Through MAS, a 350 once shipping was added really wasn't a great deal. Some people pay less in the states. Now the M2C is a killer deal at $54,500 OTD (my price). I want to add boost to the 350 as it lacks power in the 2-5k rpm range. I have a few problems with making my decision. I'm not liking any color on the M2C, I dont like the exhaust note and there isn't a review yet. So i'm going to sit and wait.

OR I might just wait for the GT500. decisions decisions

Question for you mil sales guys: you have to have orders assigning you there to take advantage, right?
I'm military and visit Germany often on personal travel, but am not assigned there. I can't just walk into a dealership over there and do a mil sales with an ID, can I?

Stationed overseas, yes. It also applies basically to any CAC holder, including DoD civilians and contractors. Basically if you're sponsored on a US gov visa you qualify.

Correct. You must have orders to an overseas location. I believe you can also take advantage of the program if you're stationed in say, Iraq, but it's delivered stateside and you of course have to pay tax. Accepting it overseas you're exempted from paying duty. Also, your DEROS has to be far enough out that you'll have the car for at least 6 months when it's delivered before your DEROS date. So basically once you order you have to have at least a year left in country otherwise they won't let you buy it. If you have orders or paperwork with less time you can still get it to work, but you just need basically a letter of employment stating intent to extend your contract / DEROS / Orders.

I used to fly OH-58D Kiowa Warriors for the Army. I chose them over the AH-64 Apache.
Small and agile sleeper killer over the bigger, more powerful battle cruiser - seems an appropriate metaphor for M2 vs. M4.

(Blackhawks being the M3 and Chinooks being the M5 in this metaphor).

I considered the RS3 but they don't stock them ever I would have to buy it without a test drive. Plus MAS (the company that sells them isn't good in my opinion).

Good point. I plan on keeping this car for the long term and from what I hear about the price others are paying in the states, it's definitely a great price.

Man 1st world problems I agree that MAS isn't as good of a deal as BMW military sales. I also am not in love with any of the colors available for the M2C.

Based on the title of the thread, I can’t believe the first response wasn’t simply YES!... 55k out the door is a sweet deal.

Yeah, you can more or less turn around and sell it for at least $5k+ more in say, a year and make money on it.

Kiowa's are gone now! Sad day for everyone and hopefully it doesn't foreshadow the future of the M2!
