I've been thinking about doing this but haven't had a chance. Really waiting for more aftermarket options.

Yes....if you want them to stay open all the time, unplug the connectors while the valves are open.

I know the trick

I've done it on my previous X5M.

Just curious to know if some of you guys did it on the F90.

Yes, I did it, and the post was moved to another section. It works as expected. Just make sure the valves are open before unplugging.

I like the sound, and notice very little drone. The great thing is that if you don't like it, easily reversed.

Thank you for your reply

I'm gonna try it ...

Did you wrap the male connector with some electrical tape ?

Yes, wrapped it tightly, and zip tied it away from the exhaust. I now wonder if I should go back and cover the female connection as well.

Not worth it imho. In Sport + and the button “on”, the valves are open at start up and the lower gears part throttle and wot. It does close at part throttle/high gear. That’s the only advantage to pulling the plugs. For me, that’s a drone zone....so no advantage.

In my experience, the valves never opened at cold startup, and never opened in lower rpm range. I'm very happy I unplugged, and would be glad to do a DIY if there are still people interested. Again, if you detect any drone, completely reversible.

That does make it worry free.Plus, the M5 is so well insulated you probably would not hear a drone like the X5M. But, I’ve verified with a light, if the settings are correct, (can be confusing) they are open at start up and part throttle. There is a trick to cold start. The settings have to be correct and it takes one tap of the throttle to activate. Ask my neighbors,,,,,lol.

Interesting. Regarding my neighbors, I'm sure they hate my cold starts now every morning around 7:30.

I found a diy post on line and did it, it's 6 screws to remove the skid plate (3 on each side), then pull the plugs on each side and zip tie them or wrap the connectors in black tape and put the skid plate back.

Oh, obviously make sure the flaps are open b4 u start.
