What are your must have options for your M2C?
Presumably ordering will start soon in the US, and to be honest, I havn't paid all that much attention to all the options available on the standard M2. I know that the list was fairly short.
I used to buy new M3's and 3 series on a regular basis, and was pretty much up to speed on what I wanted and needed. That was a while ago and those cars were my DD, while this M2C will be primarily a replacement for my track toy and weekend car. Here is what I know. I want to keep price to about $65k. 6MT No sunroof M4 Seats (manual if possible in the US) M Performance wheels M Performance brakes M Performance suspension (if in budget) What else to I need as far as mainstream options that aren't standard? Heated seats, Apple car play? Not sure what comes standard. |

For a track toy, I always try and get a car that is as close to “base” as possible (less weight, fewer things to break) with performance options that are difficult to upgrade from the aftermarket. For example, I won’t bother with an optional suspension as aftermarket options from KW, MCS, Ohlins etc. are more compelling. Nor would I bother with wheel upgrades unless I like the style for daily use as track wheels are likely a square and smaller setup. But, if there was a better differential, I’d go with that.
6MT and no sunroof are no brainers, of course What color are you considering? |

No sunroof, heated M4 seats (manual if available) and LED headlights.
Really not fussed about the rest but PDC will be a welcome and if DCT was a no-cost option I'd opt for DCT. |

Good point about the suspension. Probably smarter to go for aftermarket. That way I would still get the stock suspension as well. Besides, I will have to install camber plates anyway, which will be the same labor procedure, so why do it twice? I generally agree that a second set of track wheels is the way to go, but I don't like the stock Competition wheels, so I am considering getting the 788's ( I think that is what they are called) with the Cup 2 tires and call it a day, for both street/track. I will only drive it about 5k miles per year total, so that might be a good compromise. The Cup 2's seem as grippy as R-comps from what I can tell watching other cars on track. Color is the toughest decisions. Going in circles on it. All are in play except black. HS, because it is different, or White because it is standard BMW color, or Blue because it shows the curves better as does Orange, but not sure if it goes with the M2? Won't do it, because not dealer installed. Sorry! Quote:
LED Headlights! I will add it to the list. Thanks for the input. DCT would be tempting, BUT pay more upfront, usually get less later. Manual will be more desired down the road and of course more engaging. |

VERY Doubtful.
More likely $2900. Or did you mean PDC?

Must Have:
6MT Heated Seats (don't really care which version of the seats - I think the outgoing M2 seats are fine). Maybe: Maybe sun/moonroof. CF Bonnet and Boot. Everything else is wait-and see, but negotiable. Color: I REALLY wish MGM was an option and I am not looking to take delivery until OCT 2019 for ED, so maybe more colors will come into play by then. If I have to choose from current options: BSM or LBB

Sunroof Exec. Pack It'll be my DD so that's all I need. Exhaust to follow... I really wanted to like HS but it just doesn't have any sort of WOW factor. So I guess I'll go with LBB, at least that's what I say today lol. |

On the color. I wanted to like HS so bad, but it just doesn't do it. Not sure it's a winner. Blue, White Orange in that order right now for me. |

Back to the colors. I saw a C6 Vette yesterday on my way home in that orange/brown metallic color they came in. I have to say, if that is close to Sunset Orange, then that might not be a bad choice. Looks great in the sun and would show off the bulged fenders well. I feel that SO is just not a good traditional BMW color, but it might be the one that compliments the car the best out of all of them. And most likely it will be very rare. Might look great with Gold wheels. I've always been a sucker for gold wheels, even though it is a bit juvenile.https://www.4wheelsnews.com/images/p...-wheels-10.jpg |
