First real life look: M2 Competition w/ M Performance Parts (thx to Misha Charoudin)

BIMMERPOST
     Featured on BIMMERPOST.com
Guys,

here we have one of the first decent live photos of the BMW M2 Competition with M Performance parts. As you can see, it is Misha Charoudin who shared them with me.

He is now at APEX at the Ring and will walk back to the M Performance center to make a lot more photos.

Next to this, it also means that we will have this car at the N24 this weekend! I am there with Tim aka Shmee150 after BMW invited us and I will definitely make a whole series of photos laying underneath the car, etc...

Questions; please ask them to me know and I will investigate! Yes I know about the roof at factory/dealer installation and we want pricing, but anything else let me know.

If you want to meet up at the Ring, than please let me know.

Special thanks to Misha for the photos!

MR

That front end looks phenomenal from that angle. White is looking good too.

Can you ask if the hood and boot will be available only via factory order or if we can also get those retroactively? And on pricing, whether the M Performance parts pricing will be made available together with the car pricing or not. Decisions to be made whether to continue with a July allocation or wait until November to get the CF parts.

Also curious to know:

1). Can we get the hood painted completely in body color (aka, no exposed CF on the bulge section)?

2). If we get the boot, does it have to say M Performance on it, and does it automatically delete the M2 badge as well?

3). Can or will all of the M performance parts be installed by the dealer? Cough, including the roof, cough...

4). When will the normal reviews of the M2C start?

5). We have heard US pricing will be announced May 15th - is that correct?

Compiled questions that have yet to be fully answered from the M2 Competition: Questions for the Beijing Auto Show thread.
  • Can you please get pictures of the undercarriage, specifically the front of the car where the oil cooler is located and the rear where the new ball joint suspension is?
  • Can you please make a video while revving the exhaust and going WOT in each mode, comfort, sport, sport+?
  • Is the front armrest still retractable?
  • Will 18” wheels fit with the optional 2NH brakes?
  • What’s the weight difference between the 437M wheels and the new 788M wheels?
  • Are the M Sport seats standard for USA customers?
  • Can you take pics of the rear seats?
  • Is the particulate filter the reason the muffler is so large and will USA cars also be equipped with it?
  • Can you find out as much as you can about what’s been done overall to the suspension, specifically spring and damper rates, etc.?
Thanks!

1. I have suspension photos! Drop me a message and I will share them with you. Let me know where I need to look exactly for the oil cooler.

2. Not allowed I think until press drives. I will see what they say, but don't think that will happen.

3. Same as on M2, nothing new

4. Wooow... Unknown, not something not to answer now. That requires test fitting by a third party person. BMW will never answer that since they don't offer 18 inch for this car. They will say "no idea".

5. Interesting, I will see what they say.

6. They will never be able to answer that. European market people, not U.S. Wait another weak and you know.

7. Pics of rear seats I already made. They are on this forum. Seats are the same as the M2.

8. Good question, I will ask but also here... European market people, they don't know much about the U.S. market.

9. Interesting question! Not sure anyone will know, but let's see if there is a product specialist on hand. I am at Garching on Monday so I can ask there as well

Are we sure they don't offer 18's for the M2c? 18" wheels were offered for the outgoing M2, BMW even had a winter set for the current M2 with 640M wheels which are 18".

Are true! Totally correct... The winter set!
Also I am not aware you could get 18 inch on a M2. Only 19 as far as I am aware.
What are M4 owners doing? They must have bigger discs when they have ceramics?

MR
The 18's that are offered for the M3/4 do not fit if you get CCB. That's why I'd like to learn if 2NH will work with 18's?

Current 18's for the M2

A few quick questions for now:
  • apart from the caliper color (silver vs red), is there a difference between optional M Sport brakes (option code 2NH) and the MPP "BMW M Compound Brake Discs of the BMW M Sports Brake System Red" ?
  • may we expect an "M2 Competition CF Galore Edition" (car delivered with several MPP goodies already installed, alike the "M2 Performance Edition" (2017), but this time x pi);
  • does BMW want to sell "plenty" or "only a few" MPP CF roofs ?
    • if "plenty": make the MPP CF roof a factory or pre-delivery install feature;
    • if "only a few": make the MPP CF roof a dealer or body shop retrofit install feature.

Highly doubt they will be 18" friendly. You can see the minimal caliper clearance with the 19" M2 wheel vs the 20" M5 wheel.
So far the pre-series M2 Competition VIN build sheets are over 500 pages for 136 cars. Inevitably lots of combinations. I recalled having seen exactly one specimen featuring winter wheels indicated somewhere at the end of a build sheet.

Looked it up. My memory didn't fail me: it's WBS2U71080VB08420. A EUR spec 6MT BSM specimen built on Nov 15, 2017. And indeed the only one that got Winter wheels. No size indicated, but likely 18".

And the good news: that specimen also got the 2NH option (M sport brakes):

Not to crush the hope for 18's with 2NH brake package. But it isn't happening.

Compare the caliper clearance of the M4 carbon ceramics to M2C 2NH. Clearance is identical(very little...talking millimeters).

Already confirmed same setup as M4, oil cooler lays flat in front of radiator.

See-thru pic of cooling system on German site.
