UPDATE: Thanks for everyone's comments! I am 3rd in line at a local dealer I like and have done business with before, and pricing at MSRP. Now waiting anxiously to see Hockenheim Silver in person!
For future M2C owners: I am gathering some data before I put down my deposit. I'd love to hear anyone chime in with info about: Timelines - I've heard varying delivery dates from different dealers, with deliveries as slow as 1 per quarter Pricing - Did you negotiate anything price-wise before giving them your deposit? Agreements - Did you get anything in writing? This seems to be tough as many dealers claim to know nothing about pricing or timeline. Anything else I should know? Thanks in advance! This will be my 11th BMW, but my first time ordering a model in pre-production. Last edited by COChris; 05-01-2018 at 01:23 PM.. |

I got every in writing on a purchase agreement that is signed by me and the dealer. It states I'll be given their 1st allocation at MSRP. My CA specifically wrote down "Sold at MSRP" since we don't know the actual pricing yet. I haven't discussed the delivery yet and they only confirmed so far that the production will begin in July for US.

Got first allocation from the same CA who sold me my M2. Been on his case since news got up. MSRP, as always. May or may not take just cause I don't know how I feel about HKS

Thanks everyone, great to hear those details.
Another concern I have is the two dealerships I could order through. At one dealer, I'd be in the top 5 on the wait list, but at another I'd be in top 10. Not sure which dealer is higher volume -- wouldn't that determine how frequently they get deliveries? |

Or are you getting the first one they get shipped without any chance to customize?

Depends on the state and the dealer you work with, for example - In Texas the dealer can require a deposit but has to refund it if you change your mind. I have never had to put a deposit down to get my name on a list for a future production car (I'm #2 on the list for the M2C). I guess it depends on the relationship you have with the CE and the particular dealer. Also, it's doubtful you'll get a commitment on price other than a specific discount percentage since US prices haven't been released yet as far as I know.

Timelines - This all depends on M2c SOP, dealer allocation assignment order by BMW and final delivery destination. All we know right now is SOP is scheduled for July 18th. SOP however have been know to change, so view that as a tentative date.
Pricing - MSRP Agreements - Contract stating allocation number assigned to you that's signed by you and management with a deposit. |

No, it's just the only color that's near, or at the, the same to a grey. I am interested in it, but I don't know if I like it. I just want to see it in person first.

And nobody should ever pay over MSRP.
I'd tell any dealer marking up to go pack sand. If we all did that, there would be no marking up because then they wouldn't sell any. But some douche with more money than sense who has to be the first kid on the block with the new car will go ahead any pay a markup and screw everyone in the process.

Deposit with sales form stating "MSRP". I'm technically first in line but I may have to fight my friend, the bmw genius, for the spot. Either way, I'm at the top of the list. Manual and BSM. I have an easy build.

I spoke to a handful of dealers near NYC, and the availability seems to be high. The waiting lists are defacto empty, and all the dealers were at MSRP (with the exception of one dealer in CA who asked 5k markup). I was surprised that some of the dealerships I spoke to seemed to no clue and were instead trying to get in into a current M2.
As for timeline, I was quoted from a dealer in CT that if I put down a non-refundable 1k deposit I could have their second allocation and PCD September/October. I opted against putting down a deposit until the pricing becomes available. As I have no relationship with that dealership, the 1k deposit seemed fair. The CT dealer also knew exactly what I'm talking about with the M2C, so I'd be inclined to trust their information. Oh, and no ED |

Most of the workers in dealer are not enthusiastic and probably don't fully understand what the M2C is and it's upcoming demand.. For all we know, they probably think it's just another generic LCI M2 update, so they not going mark it up yet..
When everyone in dealership becomes "Woke" to the M2C, you going to see "Market Adjustment" added to the sticker price.. Similar thing happen when the Civic Type R when it was initially released: dealers were giving it away below sticker.. Now is the best time get them to commit in writing to at least MSRP before they catch on.. |

If you don't end up taking it, I have a friend that is 3rd on the list at his dealer who would most likely be happy to take it.

BMW best current promotional interest rate is 3.99%, in my coast.. Not ideal.. On a 5 year 60K loan at that rate, the interest is $11,970.00. Not counting state taxes.. BMW is going to be the reason I'm eating Ramen Noodles soon for dinner..

My wife's M2C is 3rd allocation at our local dealer; MSRP deal; all in writing guaranteed by sales manager. Having done business with my local dealer for the past 38 years, I'm pretty confident in them. We actually have no idea when they will get the 3rd allocation, but I'm guessing we'll get a build slot in Aug/Sept timeframe.

The table your using appears to be interest only meaning that your balance remains at 60k. On an amortizing loan you only pay interest on the remaining balance so every payment you make you pay a little less interest the following month since your balance shrinks.
