VIR

Spent Saturday and Sunday doing laps at Virginia International Raceway (VIR). I was in the “D” class as it’s been years since I’ve been on a track.

Gerhardt, my 2018 M240i, was great though I had a tendency of overdriving the car in some of the turns. My instructor, Chris Powell, finally got me calmed down fso Sunday was a much better day. I “talked” my way around the track: “get the apex,” “turn in to the apex,” slide left/right to use the whole track,” “accelerate,” repeat!

I was frequently checking the oil temp and it never went above the typical temperature seen during normal street driving. That includes speeds up to 130mph. And, the engine didn’t use a drop of oil.

I was very impressed with the car’s performance during the entire time at the track. It’s a very track-worthy car.

They got the heat issue solved when they introduced the N55 ending. I never had a heat issue in my 2011 E90 335i, or my 14' 235i. I did have a bunch of heat issues in my 07' E90 335i which had the N54.
