Competition package (CP) or not

All, quick question, what do you all think of waiting for the CP vs getting in line for a regular F90?
My thoughts for NOT getting CP, reasons:
1) potential extra $8-10K
2) stiffer ride
3) slight gain of ~0.1sec (0-60), probably not perceivable

I’ll end up tuning and lowering so I see no reason for it

I am pretty sure it will be more than $10k, considering the B&W, engine cover, and sport exhaust alone would be $8k. More like an $15k option.

That is the Australia comp package. I'm guessing the US version won't include B&O or some of those other things.

My guess is the comp package comes in at an $8k option.

I’m on my 2nd F10 M5 and have never opted for the ZCP. You can get more power, suspension and a much better sounding exhaust for less $ than ZCP.

A conservative Stage 1 tune or piggy will add 50-60hp which will have you walking Comp cars; I’ve been running a piggy on my car for the last 3 years w/o a single issue.

As per some here - if I were tuning and lowering - I would not even give the CP a thought (if in fact the Australian version is what we get).

That said - even though I am not tuning or lowering the car - I am still not interested. I have B&W and the exhaust already - I don't care about the CF cover (not poo pooing if for people who do), and the HP increase and lowering is minimal. I am still finding that 16 HP increase unbelievable on a 600 HP car. It seems really low.

I personally do not see the value unless I can get my above options plus the tune and suspension for 8K. Then - maybe.

I have the stock F90; lowering this car would be problematic for me in my town getting around some dips, low roads and elevated ramps in parking lots (and my drive way). Agree that the ZCP is not the way to go to increase HP/torque. And the BMW sport exhausts as a whole are pricey but not equal to many aftermarket. Don't see the competition package as worth it. Had it on my F10 and felt it was overpriced for what it delivered.

Yeah the CP on the F10 was mainly focused on the suspension tuning, Sport Auto said it made a difference on the track. But for most people who will never track it and acceleration is the main focus, get a tune is far cheaper than CP.

My plan is to NOT get the comp package.
I will get the ceramic brakes, then get an Akrapovic titanium exhaust and remove around 20lbs off the car. Then find an aftermarket tune. I think it will sound better, be faster, and I can miss out on the stiffer ride and other non needed cosmetics.

come on my dudes. if CP was available right now for the same price as the last model you'd all get it. it wasn't totally unreasonable.

Not me. RaceChip , Akrapovic and K&N filters. Easy 50-80 hp gain and sounds killer.

Same combo dropped my X5M 0 - 100mph from 9.5 seconds to 8.6 seconds.

According to every review of the F1X competition models were said to have "fixed" the F10 M5. They said the same thing for the F8X M3/4

given the current reviews, there aren't any specific dynamic pitfalls to the F90, so unless there are some specific components I am unaware of I think its a skip, especially if you are going to get the M performance accessories (springs/coilover and exhaust).

Bought my m4 with a comp pack... never again. Way too harsh to drive around everyday. Right now, it sits in the garage looking pretty. It's pretty much relegated to my weekend driver. I drive the 335i everyday, waiting for the m5 to show up in about 2-3 weeks. M4 comp pack (weekend) + M5 non-comp (daily) should be a pretty good combo for the next couple of years for me.

With some good parts added (Ti exhaust, Coils, Light Wheels, etc..) you can do it better than the Comp Pack...

Agree with this 100%. Better and more than likely for less money.

Comp pack

Love the you can do better for less money crowd. You are already spending a small fortune on a depreciating asset.

I’ll take a factory engineered CP package over any aftermarket setup any day of the week.

I would've bought a CP if it was available and if did not require ceramic brakes as part of the package. I just don't think ceramics are needed on this car.
