What to expect?
Leased a 2018 440i 3 weeks ago, dealer did a dealer trade from another province, car arrived yesterday, SA called me and advised me that it was here and I could pop by today to take a look, super happy with my colour choice (wasn't sure that I was going to love it but I do!), opened the door and the drivers seat is literally black all over the seat, back and side bolsters and also noticed a small nick on the side bolster as well. Interior is coral red btw. Spoke with my SA and SM and showed them and my SA said that the other dealership must've removed all the plastic from the outside and inside of the car and they have no idea why. We checked the odometer and there are only 12km! Both of them told me repeatedly not to worry that the car would be 100 and perfect at delivery as it still needed to be detailed. I reiterated to them several times that I would not take delivery if it wasn't. A) Will the black stains come out of the coral red seat? B) How on earth are they going to fix the nick? Looks like a hangnail and the leather was definitely lifting. Would it be unrealistic to expect them to replace the seat? I mean I purchased a "new" car not a demo or a used one...

wow! sorry to hear, my coral red was perfect when I picked it up & it was even a showroom car.
a) As long as they're not oily stains or something that could seep into the leather they should come out, but this is irrelevant because b) It is not crazy to ask for a new seat! You bought a brand new premium car & you deserve a premium experience. This is clearly a sloppy screw up on the dealerships end. I would fight this in a heartbeat! Good luck!

I don't really want it repaired I want it a new one. Hopefully my SA and the SM will realize that this is the right thing to do without me having to say it. I'm going to give them a chance and see what happens. Thinking I'll email them Monday and ask them to let me know once the cars ready for delivery prior to my delivery date so I can go in to see it to address any concerns I may have.

I didn't because they both told me not to worry and the seats would be 100 and perfect when I took delivery... The SM also said "let's not make something an issue until it is one" not in a bad way but I guess a reassuring one?

Yeah all of this is very strange. I remember many years ago BMW reshot a panel on a car and sold it is new and lost millions and millions and millions of dollars in a lawsuit over it.

With all due respect, they are not mind readers. Based on multiple incidents on multiple bimmerpost forums (and my own experience with a bumper) they will repair/redye and refuse to replace unless it cannot be repaired correctly. This is done all the time at VPC and another reason why Dealers almost always refuse to let you see car until it’s ready to be shown, in case something like this comes up. Look at what they have done when ready, then make your decision. BTW, pictures would have been helpful. Last edited by IK6SPEED; 03-18-2018 at 02:55 PM.. |
