What happened to the folding mirrors thing?

I remember seeing something a few weeks ago that someone made to make the mirrors fold when you lock it. I can't seem to find it now, what happened with that mod?

go to the EAS website, http://www.europeanautosource.com/pr...oducts_id=1796

People didn't like it cause the CA couldn't be used with it, only the key fob

I don't understand why it wouldn't work with CA. Does it send a different signal to lock the car than the key does? If that's the case, then it makes no sense why BMW would do that.

Can't you do this all this already w/o it? Granted not one touch, but not sure if its worth $200. Albeit auto folding mirrors are pretty slick, will those motors stand that much use? Also, what's the point of CA if you always have to use the key fob

Just FYI you can avoid this by simply programming no auto lock after driving. I have heard this is maybe just a touch less safe in bad accident conditions but worth avoiding the double pull all the time IMO. I hated that.

I bought it but decided against using it. It's brand new and I'll sell it for $199 including shipping. I'm going to have to pay shipping to return it so might as well help a fellow member out if someone wants it.

Don't you have the option to select auto-folding in your iDrive if you update to the newest version?

IMHO - Comfort Access ain't all its cracked up to be.

The modules works completely independent of CA since not all vehicles choose this option when ordering. Elimination of the "double-locking" of the doors when parked is worth the cost of the module alone.

We're using the remoteKEY with our CA-equipped e92 M3, take a look:

While it's a bit hard to see in the video - the sunroof is fully operational as well.

PencilGeek's pretty much got the features covered. The mirror autofold feature was later added from suggestions on this forum.

I picked this up from Tom a couple weeks ago and I put it in last week. The install took me all of about 10 minutes to do. I attached the module to the top of the glovebox with a piece of 2 sided foam tape, hidden away. The programming was easy if you can follow directions. Now it does everything you see in that video. I love it.

I e-mailed Tom about a feature I think would be useful. I often open my car door to use the homelink buttons under the mirror to open the garage door. But with the BMW, you can't operate the buttons unless you put the key in the ignition and put the car into ON mode I believe. I would just like the Homelink buttons to be active as long as the courtesy/dome lights are on so that I open the door, then open my garage door. I don't know if anyone else would find that of use but I certainly would.

Anyhow, Remotekey is worth every penny!!! Also, Tom is great to work with.
