Advice for recent incident

Hi everyone! First off want to say how much I really appreciate this blog. Been on here for several years but haven't been contributing much. Hoping to change that

So I had a question for your guys and wanted to get some input and see what you think.

I recently brought my '17 340 XDrive in for a service (iDrive restart - due to car play on iPhone grrr). When I went to pickup my car, while parked in the lot, I was setting up my driver seat when I felt someone drive into my rear-end. Turned out to be one of the car rental drivers who backed a rental car into me while they were trying to deliver their car to a customer.

Long story short, the hit was hard enough to crack the paint and I now have to get my bumper re-painted (on a 6-month old car)

The manager of the rental service was nice and understanding, they offered to pay for the repair. I have it scheduled for the first week of January.

So here's my dilemma: I know that re-painting a bumper will never really be like the factory. I was really bummed because my car has been in pristine condition and I was planning on getting a proper detail + kamikaze ceramic coat done on it – before this happened. So, I'm contemplating whether or not I should negotiate with them to throw in a full detail + ceramic coat along with the repair.

What do you think? What would you do if you were in my shoes?

GranCoupe, Cabrio or Coupe? That's important.

I would ask for a new bumper altogether. Fixed is never the exact same as new.

It's a Lease, and yeah new bumper it is. Actually I think they mentioned that too (as it's a new car they are obliged to use new parts)

If it is a lease, why bother too much to detail the car??

For winter cleaning. I'm OCD about keeping a car clean. Winters are especially difficult for me

For me, I won't even bother to fix to good. Just make sure Bmw FS and dealership give u in writing. Anything related to rear bumper damage, will not be your responsibility at lease end.
