Question iDrive Control Knob LCI Retrofit

I'd like to retrofit the LCI iDrive control (P/N 65829350723) knob on my Pre-LCI. Is there software needed to get it to work or is it plug-n-play? Appreciate any help!

Sorry for the ignorance, but what's the difference?

I'm not sure about F30, but Pre-LCI F10 come with a smaller knob.

The larger dial knob just comes with CIC/NBT/EVO head units while the smaller ones come with the entry head units, not pre-LCI vs LCI. You'll need to connect it to the K-CAN2 bus, and add a touch ECU if you want to enable the touch features on the knob. Touch features also require coding the head unit.

OP, take a look at post #30.

This person put together a DIY. Only thing is he didn't care for the touch functions. I've been driving my wife's 2016 the past couple of days and prefer the larger dial as well. So I may try the retrofit as well.

That is incorrect. I have a 2012 production F30 with CIC and it comes with the smaller dial knob.
