Renting an M2
Hey all,
i currently have a M240 but am looking to to get into a M2. does anyone know of ways to rent a M2 to test it out driving around town and maybe through the canyons. not trying to smash through it, but just a nice cruise through angeles crest or something, i want to get a feel for the car before i bite the bullet. I've seen a few M240 and M235 on car renting sites like TURO and other miatas, P cars, and s2000 on craigslist, but haven't been able to find a M2. if anyone knows of where i can do this or has an M2 they'd be willing to rent out for the day, lemme know!! |

Perhaps you can swap cars for a drive around some canyons with a generous forum member?
Also not sure how difficult it will be to get a hold of an M2 Competition or the price when they are released sometime next year, but that may make more sense as an upgrade from the 240 than the N55 M2. |

im not necessarily looked for an upgrade in power (although it would be welcome) I'm more so looking for the steering and handling feel, the "rawness" that people describe from the M2 that may be absent from the M240, as well as the aestethics and WIDE HIPS of the M2. i was considering waiting for the M2 competition, but if it is 10-15k more than the current M2, then that would be out of my price range, however it would probably be smarter to wait and get a great deal on a base M2 when that does come out |

keep your eyes out for one on Turo.com
I have rented several different cars from that site over the last few years. I don't go through your typical car rental places anymore when I visit different cities because I get a better choice of car on Turo, plus I get to avoid all the long lines and hassel. It is awesome renting a car through them. I have even rented a few cars local to me to try out because its cheap. |

I'm a little late to responding to this thread, but...
I rented a BRAND NEW, White M2 from Turo in Los Angeles! In fact, it had 1150 miles on it when I picked it up, so it finished it's break in period under my care! The owner charged me (I believe it was....) $135 per day, plus insurance, so it ended up costing me just under $300 for two days rental, if I remember correctly! I'm in the Los Angeles area, and his location was close to LAX. Car was awesome, and two full days really gave me a chance to explore the M2! I wanted to try it out as I was considering purchasing a 2018 M2, and wanted a long term tryout with one! This one was DCT, metal pedals, illuminated door sills, mud projector (or whatever that thing is called that projects M2 on the ground, at night)... a very nicely finished M2! Oh.... about 4 hours after picking up the M2, I drove it over to my local BMW dealer, and placed my order for a MG 2018 M2! |

The M2 and Shelby GT350 usually do 10-13 days a month and my Fiesta ST will go out 20-23 days a month.

Pretty similar and it's not easy giving your "baby" away, thus the cars on Turo I specifically bought for Turo, and I still to get to use them when they are sitting. No one touches my M2C

I mostly get car enthusiasts that drive manual, if I feel suspect of someone I will have them take me for a short drive. 125 rentals later, only 2 people I turned down and no major horror stories other than the Fiesta ST being in 2 accidents (which Turo covered). I certainly presume the clutch life will suffer since anyone renting these cars is almost always heading to the canyons, but I don't plan on keeping them past warranty.
