Installing Amp on base system
I have a bmw f30 and its come with the base system which doesnt have a amplifier. I am planning to upgrade the speakers and install a a aftermarket amplifier something like the JL Audio JL XD400/4. The issue I have is how am I going to wire the amp upto the stereo without having to splice the cables?

Installing Amp on base system
I have just gone through this process on a new 335D with the base system.
As with everything it depends on how much you wish to spend and your objectives. You can purchase a plug and play amp to fit in your boot. You will also need a cable or harness which goes from the amp via your speakers and into an adapter which plugs into your head unit. Its all plug and play but takes time to fit correctly. You may also need to code out your current sound setup. Have a look at the Match BMW Plug and Play 6 Channel Amplifier. You can also get the correct cables for this. I didn't go this way in the end as I decided to just change the front mids, under seat subs and add tweeters. My source is a Fiio DAC player plugged into the armrest. This player has a built in amp and equaliser which sounds fantastic. All my music is Flac. For me this solution was perfect. |

I am with the base system too and looking for the Alpine retrofit, still I was wondering what under seat sub to install as I don't know if the Alpine would be stable with 2 Ohms.
Any idea? |
