How do I get video to play from my iPhone?

So I coded the car to decode all the video formats available and also the USB and iPod option. I can get videos on a USB to play but not my iPhone (connected using USB).

I also see an option in the menus that says "Video" but it's grayed out even if my iPhone contains videos. I've also put videos in the TV app and on my photo album. Still grayed out. Any ideas?

I think this only works with older NBT (maybe even only CIC) with a snap in VIDEO adapter, the last was made for iphone 4s. Because the new iphones with lightning connecter are missing the analog out used for playing videos.

I think your best option is one of the apple TV solutions offered by aftermarket vendors

Or just play videos from flash/external drive; that is what I do.

But what if you want to stream a video like on netflix or something from your phone and just use the video output of the phone to connect (wired) to some sort of video input into the screen?

I do not use that much data while driving. I play videos directly from flash drive. But, I would use Miracast if I were to stream Netflix or youtube.

I was not aware that you could stream Netflix over cable.

Well I do it now with my wife's iphone SE, so I know for a fact that I can play a video on netflix, plug this guy in and literally anything on the screen shows up on my lexus.

What I'm starting to realize/read is that the new iPhones (iPhoneX) and possibly even my Galaxy S8 Plus, doesn't allow for an HDMI output any longer? I'm gonna read up on this...

I'm still trying to figure out how to get an HDMI port on the oem screen. I'm thinking the MMI by bimmertech ought to do it but they are saying no.

You would need some kind of multimedia box.

Yes and I'm starting to look for other options other than bimmertech because they won't sell just the mmi without the smartview or backup camera.
