if you want a notchier, more sporty shift feel take a look into the ZHP or M performance knob. it makes a much bigger difference with shift feel then you would expect and easy install. |

I have the UUC short shift in my '13 335iX and like it. Had UUC short shift kit in an E39 for many years and grew used to the short, concise throws. The F30 kit is definitely notchier and requires more effort than stock but this was mostly true for the E39 product (and all short shift kits really). The shifts are probably slower as a result of the notch and effort but my car is a DD for work/errands so doesn't matter to me. I have another car I track and would not install the kit if shifting speed is a requirement. (But we are talking F30 xdrives... IMO wrong tool for track days.)
On both E39 and F30 installs, I ditched the factory knob and put heavier shift knobs on. Seems to help with the balance/shift effort and I saw a video online where the factory F30 ball notched into the UUC kit a bit off (would annoy me to have the shift pattern crooked). While I self installed the E39 kit, I was working a lot so had a local bmw indy do the F30 kit. The F30 is a little more involved due to a linkage bracket welded to the body requiring a bit more disassembly during install. IIRC, they charged me for 2 hrs. UUC has a lot of promo/sales. I bought mine on sale with a free knob. Sign up for their mailing list and buy when the right deal comes along. |

I put the UUC short throw shifter in my E46 330i . I liked it at first since the car had 120k on it when I got it and the stock shifter seemed loose and worn out making it feel like I was shifting a truck with a 3 foot shifter. Now the E46 shifter feels very stiff and hard to get into gear after getting my 335i F30.

We sell more BMS shifters compared to UUC but I think that's largely due to price differences. That being said, UUC is the go-to for short shifters on BMW since like the E36 days.
