MB GLC or X3?

Hello everyone. I'm back in the market to purchase a new vehicle and I can't seem to make up my mind between the Mercedes Benz GLC and the new BMW X3. I currently own a 2011 3 series coupe but the family has grown so I'm highly considering the new X3 sdrive. Obviously, this is a biased site towards BMW, but what are your guys' take on these two vehicles? Pro/cons, performance, reliability, etc? Thanks.

Hi I have the current X3 however I just spent some time doing some work for Mercedes and one of the cars I drove was a GLC 350 hybrid thingy

Very nice I must say .. felt very well built and very solid

Lovely ride and great seats

Hate the column shift

Command is hateful after Idrive

A couple of things were odd .. pushing handrake down to apply and pulling up to take off ... just wrong !!

And .. the main beam could not be put on manually as it's all auto .. quite frustrating

But ... it is available in colours unlike the new X3

A practical exam is due....... expanded family calls for max room !
Take all that is needed to the showroom and LOAD and strap in
what the family needs to travel with.
1. DOES IT ALL FIT ?

Most of the dealers will allow an overnight .... so test the pool.

If I had a family to haul now, my choice would not be an X3,
the rear seat and cargo area are tooo small. imo
Its a great travel vehicle .................................................. ..for two!
good luck

I've seen a # of GLC's around town...Unless it's dressed in AMG guise, it's pedestrian as hell looking from the outside. A jellybean among the million cross-over jellybeans.

I would definitely compare their AMG offering vs M40i before pulling the trigger. SQ5 too - but not sure if the next gen is available yet?

The other one on my radar is X60 T6 from Volvo. Their next gen vehicle is very nice looking imo...

Choices are good and we got plenty of them in the x-over segment these days!

I hate the (GL)C interior dash with the stupid floating display with its huge bezels. That alone stops me from considering the GLC more. I think it's a great looking car though otherwise

Well, i can tell you about the sDrive 18d Automatic. I have been the driver and the passenger. It's a nice car - actually quite nice for a SUV (not that i do not like them, but for me BMW's perfection is in the sedan segment).
Soo..i found it spacious and quite practical especially when having 3 toddlers at the back and one quite tall driver who obviously was way too comfortable behind the wheel.

The car was doing perfectly on some rough, rural roads. It's quick and stable if you enjoy high-speed. And it gives you the sense of security - big plus for that.
Standard-looking but nice leather interior. Even the plastic parts in the cabin look expensive. The infotainment system is worth the money!
The engine is bit noisy when you press it harder. If you have the chance - choose the automatic, not the manual.
The 2017 edition is not bad at all:

I'm trying to make a similar decision. It's time to replace our 2013 X3 35i. I've enjoyed the BMW and I'm sure I'd be happy with the new X3 M40i, but I'm also looking at Mercedes GLC 43 and Porsche Macan S. Decisions, decisions. From what I've seen so far, the Mercedes is the best value among the three when comparably equipped, with BMW in the middle and Porsche the most expensive.

Problem with the Macan right now is that the interior is so dated compared to the Panamera or even the 911 so you know upgrades are coming and will significantly improve it. I wouldn?t consider it until it is updated

looked at GLC and GLC coupe to replace my X4, biggest things for me was command system sucks and the front already looks dated...but its a more premium interior than my X4. Ride wise, no comparison to my X4.

Didnt really like the GLC. considered it before getting my mom a Q5. Q5 is decent, but wish i had gone with the X3. the GLC looks horrible IMO interior and exterior. The Q5 (2016) is a decent vehicle but the suspension is horrible. body roll is horrendous even for an SUV. the AC is also subpar and the brakes are garbage. not sure how the new 2017 is, but the 2016 is not recommended.
