Harmon Kardon sub?

I have the HK setup in my 2014 335xd and am looking to upgrade the subwoofers to Bavsound.

As I am in the UK, does anyone know of a site or dealer that ships internationally? Or has anyone fitted any alternatives?

Chris

Hi, Chris,

There are few alternatives which you can find and plug'n'play.

Focal, Eton, Gladen One, Match, but the one I'm looking at is Ground Zero. Only issue is resistancy: HK has 8ohm, but the rest is 4ohm... I'm not sure how bad is that...

Are we talking about the "subs" that are under the front seats? I am looking at Jehnart XE 200 to replace the underwear woofers and adding a truck sub. The HK speakers are improved over previous versions. Replace the HK Amp with a Mobridge DAC. I plan to start here and then decide whether to spend more depending on how I am liking what I hear.

Hi

I upgraded my F10 base hifi with Eton 195 NEO's.

They are very well made and I would vouch for them. They are pure plug and play.

Eton do two types of subwoofer - B-195 NEO's and B-150 depending on the initial system you had in your car.

Both can be obtained for around £150 to £160 each.

I do however run them with an Eton DSP CAN8 (dsp/amp) and a set of upgraded Eton front speakers - the improvement over the base hifi is imense.

If you want to ask them any queries, try contacting them on Facebook.

I believe Eton used to make (if not still do make) the Individual audio speakers for BMW.

HK doesn't have subwoofers to upgrade....and barely has woofers. Mid-Woofers is a better description, which is why people look to change the underseat Woofers.

Quite a lot of solutions on the market. Eton amp with BMW harness is not a problem to obtain. Me personally, went for Bimmer-Tech (bavsound) PP82DSP. 100% plug'n'play, a lot of settings, but price is rather high...

Mosconi, Eton, many-many more.. all you need is BMW harness.

I don't think PP82DSP is an option for an HK system...

Oh, no-no! It is not, because HK is optical fibre, but my comment was quoting devil84 and question about BMW advanced, which I believe is equivalent for HiFi in UK.

Bav sound do ship internationally. I'd negotiate if I were you. A few years ago they did me express shipping to the UK at no cost. Customs charge wasn't bad.

Bavsound have stopped shipping internationally as the U.K. market was not a big money earner for them they said. You have to buy from one of their dealers in Germany or Sweden I think nowadays.
I was going to go with them but decided not when they indicated that the U.K. market was no-longer much interest to them!!

Hi - its not plug and play you will need a harness to interface with either the base or hifi systems.

It keeps all original head unit abilities:-
F+R fader
L+R fader
Tone
Separate F+R PDC

And builds on it significantly adding full DSP control over 8 output channels.
e.g graphic equaliser by channel, clipping detection, hi and low frequency cut off by channel, time delay etc

Its also very small, and will easily fit where the factory amp would be located in a hifi car.
