Video Footage of Dealer Damaged my car Discussion- Need help

Hello,

I have an update on the topic I previously discussed in another thread but now I have a video footage that I need help with. That is why I am creating this new thread. Link to the original story;

http://f30.bimmerpost.com/forums/sho...5#post21645615

I have a dash-cam footage from my car, it shows the conversation between the service guy and my service adviser. My service adviser told me that the damages happened when they forgot screws over the lift legs when they lift the car (Look at picture to understand how it happened) for oil change. This is the story they told me.

There may be a different story. I brought my car in again for them to replace the damaged parts. Before the service guy starts working on my car, he talks about my situation with my service advisor. I need your help to help me understand what they are talking about. I can’t really understand because of the background noise. I am concerned that there was more damaged to my car and maybe the original story of how it happened was fake.

Please watch the video and help me understand what they are saying.

Service Guy says- “Did he ever find out how much the damage was?”
My adviser says- “………. ….. no idea”

I can’t understand the rest of the discussion. I need to understand whether they are hiding something or not. You see the service guy first, then my adviser. I hear some words but I can’t connect the dots. I especially want to understand the first 4 sentences. I am afraid that they may have dropped my car or something else.

Thank you for your help.

That is shocking, I would definitely get independent inspection before allowing them to repair!

Be careful posting a video like this. I have a dash cam as well and a few people were telling me it might be illegal to record when you're not there and your car is at the dealer (private property).

What he said. "Secretly" recording them is not what I would do. Have an independent body shop check it out, then take your findings back to this shop.

Situation sucks, to be sure. Hope you get it sorted out soon.

Doesn't really matter. California is a 2 party consent state for audio recordings. Unless they consented to this, I wouldn't even bring up the recording. You are at legal risk.

Fall back on the physical evidence.

Isn't that the bottom rocker panel? It's plastic -- I could see how it would get punctured by the lug/stud. All they need to do is replace that plastic part though (with a new matching piece) -- no biggie.
