F30 blowing hot air on Passenger side NEED HELP ASAP
So lately it has been very hot out, and I am now using my AC for the first time.
I have both set to 60F, on the driver side the AC is difinately not blowing the coldest of air. The passenger side meanwhile is blowing completely hot air... Does anyone know what this is from? Do I just need Freon? NEED HELP ASAP ITS HOT!!! |

I know this might be dumb but you know about the vent temp knob near the lock button on the center of the dash right? although that wouldn't explain why it's only the passenger side. is it all air outlets? vents and floor?

Could it be the evaporator not working proper?

My E46 did the same thing once. I had cool-ish air coming only from the driver's vents. I thought it was something electrical or mechanical. I was just down on freon from a slow leak. Repair shop said BMWs will direct all the cold air only to the driver's side when the system is struggling to cool the car. I'm not sure how it does that but they refilled the system and cold air returned to the passenger vents. I don't know if F30s work the same way.

Not a dumb question at all, i actually just learned what the knob meant I havent had the car for too long so im still learning things as I go. But it seems to be like all air vents on the passenger side.

I had this problem with my E82 and dealer had to replace a new evaporator.

It's R134a Refrigerant..NOT freon. Freon disappeared from new cars decades ago...

My car is back in the shop for another unrelated issue and the loaner I have is blowing colder air with more power on the passenger side than the driver side. I tried adjusting the various controls and none worked. IT is only a loaner so I will live with it but it does make me wonder about these systems. |

So I took my car in to a shop and they told me that the passenger side actuator i believe they called it is basically stuck on the hot air side. They said that I needed to take it to BMW to have it recoded in or for it to rotate between hot and cold air again. Weird thing is since I've gotten it back, cold air has been blowing from both sides...
