Connected drive app and fuel levels

For those who have the connected drive app which shows the fuel level.

When I fill my car completely the app will say I have 55L of fuel when the tank actually has 60L when full.

Is everyone else getting the same? I'm guessing it doesn't include the reserve fuel level.

I think you are correct it doesn't take into account the 'reserve' because when my tank is full USA 16 Gallons it is indicating 14 Gallons on the App

Hi, when you click on the BMW Connected App it should come up with a picture of your car on top stating fuel level and total range and whether the car is locked or unlocked then in middle theres 3 choices remote, status (gives you current milage) & info (gives you VIN Number and enabled feature check off list... hope this helps and bottom there buttons for locking unlocking light and horn then scroll down and get Locate Vehicle.

You may need a BMW Online Services subscription. I didn't see fuel level and remaining fuel until I subscribed.

Also make sure that you're logged in to your ConnectedDrive account in iDrive settings.

I haven’t paid anything for connected drive or online subscriptions. Is it free for the first few years?

Mine works. Locks and unlocks. Locates vehicle. I can send destinations to it. I haven’t tried ventilation yet.

And mine always shows 14 gallons after I fill up.

I don't get all that fancy fuel or mileage info either, just basic lock/unlock, horn etc... Looks like my 2016 is a bit too old for all that. I am however subscribed to remote services, RTTI

That is what mine does. The range seems accurate but the best I can get is 15 gallons. Most of the time full equals 14. I find it works fine. Certainly when I am in the car I just look at the fuel gauge and decide if need a fill up, but. I like the door lock features.

The only additional info that I noticed after subscribing was the fuel level/remaining distance.

Not sure if the subscription is what activated it, or me logging into my ConnectedDrive account in iDrive.

Then you can renew if you want. I find the functionality on my 2018 is very good. On my 2016 X1 it has less functionality. But the door lock feature and find my car is always useful.

On the 2016 MY and below, you have to plug your phone into the USB port and run the ConnectDrive app, for the fuel info to update.

New vehicles it's done over-the-air, without having to physically plug it in to update.

Poochie FWIW, my MY 14 335i used to only have the connected drive app update when physically plugged in as well but since retrofitting an iDrive 6 HU from a '19 model, the connected drive app updates via WiFi when in the vehicle without the need to manually plug in. I no longer have connected drive services but the connected drive app as others mentioned does still update with fuel and total range.

I suspected that the limitation is specific to the iDrive hardware, thanks for confirming.

It's really not the end of world not having a real-time fuel level update; gas is cheap now, so my tank is always full and I have a T-Mobile OBD-2 hotspot dongle, with an active 4G connection.

I can check my fuel level anytime and a lot more, without using the ConnectDrive APP..

No problem.
Well I'll be damned, wasn't aware T-Mobile had this and I've been a customer for all these years. Your well targeted advertising will have me give their OBD2 dongle a go and see what it's like

The fuel tank is roughly 55L, mate If your gas station tells you you fill 60L..... you may want to change the gas station

From empty it is 60litres. You will almost never fill up with 60l unless you run your tank completely dry.

I noticed in my wife's G01 X3 the amount shown is exactly the amount in the fuel tank. Ie if I fill up to the brim the app shows what BMW states is a full tank.
