Issue With Power Steering
I have noticed recently (I have 75k miles) that at high speed (roughly 50+MPH) when going around a bend with the steering wheel slightly off center, the wheel is sort of stuck in that position and you have to "click" it back into position when straightening out the wheel. its very strange especially since I always remember the steering wheel being perfectly smooth up until recently. otherwise the power steering appears to be functioning perfectly fine.
anyone know what this might mean? can it be possibly coded out or fixed somehow? it is a little unsettling. thanks in advance. |

That is not normal - I would take it to someone to have it diagnosed just as soon as possible.

You may want to post your year and model information.

I have the same issue. You have to kinda jerk it back just a bit, almost like it want to continue to turn. Scared the crap out of me the first time I felt it. I notice it happens when going around a bend at about 40-50MPH but only I take my foot off the accelerator. I talked to a BMW mechanic and he said it is just the quirky steering in the F30. Hmm...

Does "worse" mean when you run into something because your steering is broken? I really doubt it is a coding issue (or even a software issue). It is most likely a mechanical issue which needs to be looked into as soon as possible.

Best case it's nothing, worst case next time you get to that sticky spot your steering locks in that position ... while you are in a curve. Lots of problems with car's are best diagnosed by waiting for a part to fail, this is not one of those times. Take it in to a pro, whatever it costs will be money well spent.
