New 2er LCI receives touchscreen, but not 4er LCI?
So the new 2 series LCI receives a touchscreen with the professional navigation, but it's not available on the 4 series LCI which was just released 2 months ago? Have they lost it?

I word expect that the 2018 model, from july onwards will have this, right?
Would be a major f-up if it didn't...

Having just ordered a 4 LCI with May production date I am properly pissed off. Also how can they allow adaptive cruise control on a 2er? Bad enough we don't get the 340HP version of the B58 engine. Some things should be reserved for the better cars. |

Hold up - I know I'm asking in the wrong forum, but I did that article say the M240 xDrive will be available with 6MT?? That has never been available before, correct?

I had touch screens for the last number of years, maybe 8, before my current 340 without it. I missed it for one day. Now I think, again I THINK, I prefer it without it. The only thing I miss was touching a location on the map, and seeing how far I was from that point instantly, which BMW may not even have...
That was nice, like when you roll up into a traffic jam, and see its red for the next whatever distance. You can touch where it is "green" on the map, and the Infiniti map will count you down in the term is mileage till you get there... But that's all I miss |

I've recently had a 4 Gran Coupe LCI moving from a VW Mk 7 Golf which had a touchscreen infotainment system. I don't think touch screen works as well as physical buttons/dials as they are difficult to use when on the move. I certainly don't miss it, particularly as the iDrive dial is so intuitive to use.

Touchscreen isn't nearly as exciting as you think it is in a car.

greatly dislike touchscreen in the car. Even a good one. Subaru's latest is real good - have it in Crosstrek (great car) - far prefer the idrive apparatus. -- how many times have I been driving and gone to touch the screen only to hit a bump and have my finger touch the wrong icon or different spot on the screen - bad technology for a moving user imo

Was thinking about that yesterday. Have a loaner which has the icon menu.
Automatically reached over to tap for Nav & found two things, no touch screen & the screen was too far away to make touch screen useful IMHO.

Confused. The press release says no touchscreen for the LCI. I contacted a BMW genius, and they too are unaware of such change after July. Hm... |

My 440 is due to go into production week 26 and delivery end July week 29.
I wonder if my car will come with the touchscreen... it's not a big issue as I get irritated with fingerprints but a nice feature to have. My car will have both HUD and Digi Dash too.

Maybe if they stopped calling everything LCI/Edition xyz/etc. and just added features every model year like every other oem, people would stop b*tching about everything.
Guess what? In a year something else will get added. And then in another year they'll discuss a new model coming out. Get a grip. |

Trust me. It's in the German official press release. The 4, and many other models, is getting touchscreen in July, but no other changes. Not aware of a the press release in English yet, so the info probably hasn't filtered through to genius https://www.press.bmwgroup.com/deuts...70609DE/385150 Quote:

As an aside, it wouldn't bother me too much if the touch screen didn't make it here. I'm a techie and I love this stuff, but the iDrive controller is a far better input device as others have stated. That said, it's always nice to have alternatives and the latest and greatest toys (like the digital dash please!).
