Chips in passenger side window.
So a couple nights ago some loud drunk teenagers were in the parking lot. I saw one throw a penny at my neighbors truck and I yelled at him. Well yesterday after washing the car I noticed chips in the passenger side window... And also found a penny next to the window on the ground.
I called the repair place and they said they cant do anything for the passenger side window. I don't think the cops will do anything because there isn't any proof that the guy did it. I talked to his sister that lives next door to tell him to come over to hang out so I can beat his ass but he didn't pick up. I went to auto zone to look at the 3M repair kit but its only for the front windshield and spider cracks. Here's a pic of what it looks like, there are prob 5-7 small chips like a penny would leave if thrown at it. Could I fill it in with resin of some sort? Could my insurance cover this? Or am I fu**ked and have to spent 1k+ on a new window to resolve this. View post on imgur.com |

Not sure. I called my insurance company and they made me an appointment for tomorrow with safelite. If I replace it I'd have to pay a $500 deductible, if they repair it my cost will be nothing and they said my rates would not be effected. So hopefully they can get it to where it isn't as noticeable, because right now it does bug the crap out of me. Its all I can see when I look at it.

The windshield is laminated glass and those kits are meant to drill the chip and apply the resin. The side windshields are tempered glass and will shatter if I followed the steps on those kits. Either way I'll take it to safelite tomorrow and post some after pics for you guys in case anyone else ends up like this.

Yeah, you need to be careful about drilling anything in a tempered window!

https://www.amazon.com/Permatex-0910...eld+repair+kit With small pits and scratches that likely won't develop into cracks you can skip the initial steps in the video with the plunger rig, and just use a couple of drops of the resin plus the curing patch. |
