How many of you are planning to keep their 3 Series over 4 years?

I had my '06 E91 ten years. Was a great car, bought the extended warranty from the local dealership and it definitely paid for itself. Was planning on keeping it longer, but got rear ended and it really didn't drive the same.

So I now have had my '16 F31 for a year. Financially I really need to keep this somewhat enjoyable,(but not as much fun as the E91) depreciating asset for over 5+ years to make any $ sense.

So I was curious on how many of you out there plan to keep you F3*s for any length of time?

It is a dilemma, I like the car, I am on a 3 year lease. I am either going to lease another one before they stop importing them, or buy it out and buy a CPO package from the dealer and drive it for another couple of years.

On one hand I feel that, for me, the F31 is the best combination of compromises for what I bought the car to do which is highway cruiser, dog hauler and cross country trecker, although I do feel that it is incredibly expensive for what it is when you are liberal with the options. I just hate switch blanks and can't help myself. I did refuse to pay $300 for the map pocket nets on the backs of the seats!

On the other, the Golf SportWagen is almost half the price here in the Canada. The steering on non GTI/R Golfs is like a 72 Lincoln!

Life is also short, I may just go Panamera Sport Turismo!

I have a year to think about it, either way, I will do European delivery as Germany is awesome!

B.

I plan to keep mine awhile. I think the rust warranty is 12 years, maybe I will see if I can keep it long enough to use it

My car is already over 5 years with over 71,000 miles

I am planning to keep it for another 15 years, handing down the manual car to my daughters when everyone will be sitting in their autonomous electric cars..

I just bought a 2015 328. I'm planning on keeping it till it turns 10.

I kept my 2001 330xi for 16 years!

I bought my 2013 328 xDrive with CPO warranty for another 2 years. My finance is 6 years so I will likely keep it until the finance is up and then upgrade.

The car should be kicking around 100k km's around then so it'll make a down payment for the next one!

Have my 330e for only about nine months. 2016 model so I have both maintenance and warranty for four years. Not sure yet; it may depend upon my health (I would be 76 after four years) and whether I really need what I assume will be enhanced safety features.

But if I don't absolutely need the new safety features, I will probably keep it longer as I love the car. Plenty of pep, lots of torque, and all the current features that I need/want.

Not sure which way I'll go with my 2016 340i Msport.
3yr lease and I'm half way through.

It's going to depend on what BMW does with the new 3 series.
This is my 2nd F30, 335i Msport and now 340i Msport.

My top choices are a bit strange, but I don't have kids to haul around so my car is for my daily driver and enjoyment.
I'm considering:
New G20 3 series
M240i
Audi S3
Maybe even a Golf R

On the lower price end:
VW GTI
Mazda Miata

The Miata may be too small for me.
The GTI is a very fun to drive small car, even for a FWD, and it's quite comfortable. The problem is that it's price has gone very crazy.
A fully loaded GTI Autobahn is $36K. There is a new GTI coming for 2018 that some nice updates, but if VW moves the price any higher, then it's going to be a no go as that's too close to a not loaded but nicely equipped and more fun to drive 230i w/Msport at $41K. Plus, BMW has way better lease then VW/Audi have, if I go lease again.

Last option is to keep my 340i, and I'm really considering it.
My residual will be a bit under $40K, but I will be a good bit under 30K miles. Plus, BWM has offered me lower purchase price on past leases, below the residual, and I can get an extended warranty for a great price too.
Keeping my 340i may be the best and most economical choice.

I think the GTI SE is the sweet spot- you only miss out on DCC (not needed IMO), nav, and power driver seat (not needed if you don't adjust seats often), and you can find new ones well under 30k which will lease pretty well. You still get the LSD, leather seats, fender audio, and lighting package.

On topic, I bought my 335i so I do plan to keep it for a few more years. I will probably replace it with an M240i or maybe a Golf R if my GTI lease is up by then.

My lease ends in Jan 2019, and I will be getting into the new G20, or jumping ship to Audi S4/S5.

I have a 2014 CPO'd Elite F31 @ 5yrs/75k miles. Bought from dealership in 2015, had 6500miles and driven only by BMW execs.

I'll keep it til end of warranty.

Got rid of my 328i after 3 years. Got rid of my 340i after 3 months. I'll be getting rid of my M3 after 3 years. I just don't see keeping a BMW after the warranty is done.
