Active8 tune and catless DP
Anyone running the AA active 8 tune with a catless downpipe, either Wagner or ER? I'm considering going with one of these two and am curious how this combination works. How is the fitment and installation. Any codes after install?

I'm running AA tune and Er catless down pipe. You would need to use a spark plug extender to get rid of the ses light. But the AA tune and Er is a fantastic combo!!!!!
The AA unit it self is a quality built piece. Bmw oem type wiring and connectors. Install is super easy and takes about 30min or so. It's a set is a forget it type of tune. No way to log or make revisions like the Jb4, so there are major differences between both tunes. But both are limited by the fuel cap soooo.... I'm personally very happy I chose the AA over the jb4. But if your thinking of going with WMI in the future, jb4 is the way to go So far I was able to run 12.0 @ 115, 11.8s coming soon... No bad for a chunky awd sedan and a few bolt ons..... Thanx dude, I never got a chance to run just the tune alone at the track.
These times are without using launch as I have a tire light on and the engine was being choked out at around 5k because of a rubber elbow inlet collapsing that I installed in addition to the bms intake. Now that those issues are fixed 11.8s should be no problem. We shall find out soon enough Last edited by Roki187; 05-04-2017 at 10:17 AM.. |

You can buy a jb4 which has the capability to delete the rear oxygen sensor fault or if you go with the AA tune you'll need a oxygen sensor extenender. You would remove the rear oxygen sensor, apply high temp anti seize to threads, screw in the extender and screw in the sensor into the extender. It works and works well. On all cars, doesn't matter the make. Some cars do require a longer extension or a elbow to make it work. |

Your down pipe will have two threaded exhaust bongs. One will be located upwards where the downpipe attaches to the turbo. That's the upstream sensor also known as the pre cat sensor. The other located a little lower is a downstream sensor also known as a post cat sensor. The upstream sensor (pre cat) is a input sensor and it tells the dme how the engine is running. Based on that information (and others) the dme makes adjustments. The downstream sensor (post cat) is only there to keep an eye on the catalytic converter, nothing else. It constantly evaluates its efficiency. If it falls below or above specified range, it will cause a fault and a check engine light. So screwing in a extender when installing a catless downpipe into the post cat sensor fools the sensor into thinking the catalytic converter is still working as designed. Some cars require a longer/shorter extender or an elbow but it always works. Using a quality piece along with high temp anti seize is key. But again some tuners don't require doing this as they delete the fault. Hope this helps, I have a pic but can't upload Btw....Don't spend more than $8 on it |
