Satellite Radio Channel Preview in iDrive

I'm used to being able to scroll to another channel while listening to one channel on SXM and see what is playing, to decide whether or not to change the station. So far, the only way I've found to see what's on another station in the M2 is to actually change to that station.

Does anyone know if there's an iDrive setting that will show a preview of what's on another channel? Looked through the split screen options, and nothing jumped out at me.

I've only ever seen this on an official SXM radio, never on any OEM's integrated thing, and not even on the various 3rd party aftermarket radios (I've seen SXM on both Alpine and Pioneer units and neither one had the "preview" you're talking about).

I know what you mean, because I think I have seen it on official units and it is pretty handy... but I'd be surprised if it's in idrive.

Non of my cars have this feature. Even if they did, I probably wouldn't know who the artist was or the song name anyways.

That's a bummer. My E90 radio sucks (factory), but at least it lets me scroll to other channels to see what's playing!

My buddy's Q7 shows what's playing on each station automatically when you roll over it. It's a really nice feature and I wish ours did the same.

You can see what's on each channel in the M2, though - you have to change the view setting to Title/Artist or whatever rather than station name. Only downside with this is that once you select that option you don't see the channel name anymore. It's either/or. I wish you could see both, but you do have the option.

Sorry, not in front of my car right now or I'd tell you how to do it. Maybe under options while you're in SXM?

Nice! I have not been able to find that view yet, if you find it before me, please let me know! I thought I had been through all of the menus, but maybe I missed one.

Found it! If you're listening to satellite, and scroll left on iDrive, you get a menu with one of the options that says change display. In there you have the option to change the display to show artist or song title or station!! Thanks for pointing me here!

Yep. I'm hoping a combined view might someday make it into an iDrive update. Not holding my breath...
