Drivetrain Malfunction on 340i xDrive w/ MPPSK

Just hit this today and really not looking forward to my trip to the shop tomorrow. Curious if any others have experienced this.

I've had the MPPSK on for several months now and no issues. Then today, I'm heavy on the throttle in 2nd and power just drops off and the message appears. It was gone upon restarting of the car, but reappeared as soon as I got heavy on the throttle.

Please, I need emotional support from the only people who understand me!

Was wondering the same. Could also just be a coil pack. Does OP notice any damage to the charge pipe on inspection? It isn't always obvious, but worth a look.

I could also be a glitch in the matrix like quite a few others have had.

Or it could be a re-occurrence of the defective aux cooling fan/radiator that plagued the early 335 M-sport cars. Not entirely sure what the 340's configuration is, though. My car (with MPPK) had the same symptoms and the fix was to replace the fan/radiator unit under warranty.

Just dropped her off with my longtime SA. I'll keep you all posted as I know I would have loved to find info on this before taking it in.

On the plus side, I got a pretty swank loaner. Brand new X5 M-Sport with every option. Thing drives nicely!

They said it was a "glitch" on mine, did a software update and opened up a PUMA. Haven't done it since, 500 plus miles later.

I'd be happy with a glitch fixed by a software update. Haven't heard anything yet.

Just got word that it is a consistent misfire on Cyl 4. They are going to replace the ignition coil and plug and test drive the shit out of it before I can pick it up.

The dealership is using parts replacement to diagnose the problem? Don't they have scanners for that?

I had my charge pipe break once leaving me stranded. Lol

And then a month later the fuel pump.

And my cars totally stock.

Either way just needs a few days in the shop and you'll be good.

Glad to see they got you sorted.

I got crappy 320s lol I wish I got an X5 for the days

Picked it up today and talked with my SA. He said, based on the scan reports and the symptoms (really nasty plug) they concluded it was the ignition coil. I asked about the injectors and he said that failure typically presents itself with a strong fuel smell and white smoke out of the tail pipes.

Anyway, got her back and she flies smoothly again.

All the coils on my 335i were replaced at 21k miles, before I owned it. I wonder if N55 coils are flawed?
