Warranties On CPO?
Hey all, first time BMW owner. I've always driven Japanese cars myself, so I'm interested to see how this works out! Anyways I was hoping to get some advice. Recently I bought a CPO 2013 328i, and I'm due to pick it up on May 6th. Before then I was asked by the dealership to decide on a number of warranties for the car. The car has 78,000 km so it was obviously used as a daily driver, and I'm not sure what (if any) I should get? It's got the CPO warranty until April 2019 but I can extend that by an extra year for $1077 CAD. Is it or any other warranties worth considering with the higher mileage in this car?

Extending your warranty depends on the level of risk you are comfortable with. BMW actuaries have looked at the data and crunched the numbers to come up with a price that will allow them to make a profit. Maybe you'll need a new transmission or maybe nothing will go wrong. If you have the means to cover a high maintenance expenditure, don't get the warranty. Otherwise, get it to cover the possibility.

The mileage for your car isn't low but you still have warranty until 2019 which is good. I was also looking into buying extended warranty but decided not to in the end.
If nothing goes wrong with my car then I'm paying for nothing. But I guess you'll pay for piece of mind that "if" anything happens you'll get it covered. Is it worth $1000 for that extra year though is the question. If anything goes wrong with my car I'll just take it to an Indy dealer. My car has 39k miles on it only so I pray that nothing breaks. But I do have warranty until November 2018 as well

I'm very risk averse. Owning a BMW out of warranty scares me to death. I would buy the extended warranty for the peace of mind, and I would also justify the cost by the simple fact that then I would keep the car longer. A 5 yr old car depreciates slower than a new car, so in a way, you're recovering the cost of the warranty in savings versus buying a new car.

Thanks for the input all, would there be anything commonly popping up around my mileage that I might consider? I hear ignition coils are one and usually at around 100,000 km (which I'll hit within 2 years) but that would be covered by my CPO, no?
