I'm having a heck of a time finding the perfect seating position!

After 6 months of owenership I'm still struggling to find the perfect seating position in my F30. In most of my prior cars I've preferred to sit with the seat at the lowest height setting possible with the part of the seat where my knees are closest to angled all the way up. I'm 5'10" 185lbs and in that position it feels too low unlike my previous cars (Cadillac ATS, Acura TLX) and is actually more difficult for me to get in out and out of than other cars. However, in that position my legs/feet are in the perfect position to the pedals. If I raise the seat height to where it is higher and easier to get in and out of, it's awkward for me to work the pedals (feels like I'm driving a truck). Any thoughts/suggestions?

BTW, I'm still not happy about this car not having an 'easy exit' option like most of my previous cars where the seat moved up and out of the way to allow easy ingress/exit. Big oversight in my mind.

You can code the seat moving backward when car has turn off.

Wow. Didn't know that. It would be a dream come true if I could get it to move back and up to exit.

Yep. I had mine coded. I like the adjustable wings very closed and the easy entry coding made it wonderful to get in and out.

Moving your seat forward or back will change the angle of attack of your feet. Raise the seat and move it back a bit to have the pedals feel less "under" you so that you have to extend almost fully. Honestly I never found just the right setting in my 328i. My 340 and M3 are perfect however. What seats do you have?

I have the Coral Red Dakota leather and I suppose sport seats since I have the M Sport package. I played around with the settings at lunch and found my initial lowest to the ground with the area closest to my knee at full rake to be the best setting for driving. I just wish it were easier to get in and out of the car with the seat at that setting. Wow, I'll be 38 in two months and am complaining about getting in and out of a 3 series sedan.....lol.

I've never more been more comfortable in a car than in the F30 sport seats.

Me neither. I wonder if that's also so your helmet clears.

I've had my F30 for over a Year and still find the seats uncomfortable. Coral Red Dakota Sport Seats. This is just the easiest way of explaining my problem, my ass just hurts lol. I'm 22 by the way so you shouldn't feel bad about your age.

I had a lot of trouble getting used it at the beginning. I'm about your size, OP. I'm s little taller and a little lighter, but I have weirdly long legs. I think I dialed it in now, but some days, despite the same position, I'll feel uncomfortable, and not sure why...

I "like" the seats now, but I wouldn't call them the most comfortable. My Infiniti had nice seats. The S4 has nice seats, the C43AMG has nice seats...

These are ok...

Yup, I had the same in my 328i. I could never get them exactly right. Same in my 340i M Sport. The M3, however, is perfect. I think it sits lower because of less padding.

Just be glad you don't have a convertible. I think the most uncomfortable seat I have ever sat in was a 428i convertible loaner car.

I use memory setting one for my driving position and setting 2 for getting out of the car.

I do find that the seats don't go low enough. Adjusted as low as possible and still find it too high for my liking.

Had a 640i loan car recently and the seat was perfect. Sat very low to the ground. Wish we could have comfort seats with nappa leather in the F30.

I have one for daily driving and one for "sport" driving. It's more upright with the bolsters extra tight.

yup these seats suck. theres not enough cushion on the bottom and it just doesnt hug you like a sport seat should. they dont have that "sinking in" effect

Nope. It's the point (I go by 3 fingers) at which you can see as much of the ground in front of you without breaking your neck in a rollover.

Your seating position should be more vertical vs raked backwards like a recliner chair. The more vertical the better job the side bolsters will do to keep you in place. You'll also find that you have better control of the car and less neck strain.

BMW's still have some sporty roots, keep it alive when trying to get in and out of your car

but seriously, I would sacrifice easebility of entering/ exiting the vehicle in order to attain the perfect driving position. talk about first world problems

Try getting the shitty regular seats! Now they suck! Nothing is right about them and I can almost say they're as bad as the second gen CTS's were except for padding. Been looking to swap for sport seats but it's not happening with Saddle Brown without an indefinite wait. At least it's leather:/

+ 2

I have a herniated disc between L4/L5 and I can't even ride in my wife's Hyundai Sant Fe without excruciating pain.

To my surprise I was able to sit and drive my car for over an hour and a half today without the slightest pain. I did have to pull the thigh bolster all the way out to support my legs but I was surprised how well these seats are designed.
