2018 F30

Hey all, with everyone focused on the G20 for MY '19, there seems to be no info on the MY '18 F30. Just heard from the CA I'm working with that '17 will end production in June, and '18 F30 will begin production in July.

I can't wait until G20 (ETA early 2018). Besides, who knows if the G30 will have 6MT?

Anyone have info on any updates for MY '18? Even package change info would be great to know right now, as there seems to be no allocation for 340i at the moment.

Here's what I'm trying to order, BTW.

I haven't seen anything yet, but share your concerns on the 6MT availability on the G20. That's why I went ahead and order the MY2017 (picking it up on Monday!). 6MT of course. #savethemanuals

G20 will probably be early 2019 or late 2018.

F30 end of production 10/2018 so G20 starts 11/2018. I guess earliest delivery would be December '18.

Expect poor lease rate and invoice + $1000 for new model that soon.

Audi got rid of the manual in the S4. Rest in peace to my avatar.

Here's my fearless prediction of the next generation three series. The next generation car will still retain a manual and it will be called m340.

Everything I've read shows the G20 to be unveiled later this year, with production start in either early or mid 2018. Really don't think it's gonna be as late as y'all are saying. Most the of the automotive sites are guessing unveil at the Frankfurt show in September.

Here's the note from my CA:
"MY18 F30 340i will begin production in July 2017 according to my BMW NA contact in which MY2017 will be ending production in June. From what I gathered, the G20 will be introduced in the middle of the model year run at the beginning of calendar year 2018."
Sounds like there might be more overlap than usual?

And another email:
"With the G20 following not long behind the MY2018 F30, I highly doubt there will be any drastic changes besides maybe some option changes and standard equipment."

Re: 6MT on G20, I tend to think BMW will continue with it, but who knows?

Re: 6MT on G20, I tend to think BMW will continue with it, but who knows?
I definitely don't think they will unveil the G20 until sometime in 2018. It would hurt MY18 sales to unveil the car a year prior to it being available.

Everywhere I've read states the G20 will not launch on the "regular" 3 series schedule, which at present is that current MY ends production in June and then the new MY starts in July. I also was in agreement with the above folks that G20 wouldn't start production until fall of 2018, meaning not available at dealers until late 2018/early 2019 (this is for US availability).

MY12 F30 didn't start production until 02/2011, so it definitely didn't start in the usual summer timeframe. This February SOP seems more in line with how BMW introduces a new model, however perhaps they are trying to accelerate due to competition?

I think the G20 stuff is all conjecture at this point.

What I'm really after is: what's gonna change on the MY '18 340i?

Just the LCD display?

You have very reliable source here.
http://f30.bimmerpost.com/forums/sho...d.php?t=901686

F30 ends production on 10/18. G20 will be revealed mid 2018 and starts production 11/18.
340i will be named to m340i like 2 series.

Yes, that's possible. I've read pretty much that whole thread. I think the production date for G20 of 11/2018 is an assumption based on F30 ending in 10/18. Seems like the prototypes are pretty far along for production to be 17 months away.

Annnyywaaay, please chime in if there is info on MY '18. Thx.

Even though I feel I made the right decision going after the 340 instead, the MY2017 S4 was actually my choice late last year until I found out that they were no longer offered in 6MT. That's a deal breaker for me, I'm just not ready to part with the level of engagement you get with the manual. I completely respect and understand why folks go auto, I just wish the manuals weren't such a rare find among practically all carmakers these days.

Why would that be a bad idea? you're already buying a used car that you probably want, why wait?

only reason I can think of is that when the new gen comes out, the values on the existing generation will inevitably drop slightly. But if you want a car, get the car

Then you'll never have the new car..

If you wanted to buy a MY13 instead of MY14, you had to forgo iDrive NBT.

If you wanted to buy a MY15 instead of a MY16, you had to forgo the LCI.

If you wanted to buy a MY16 instead of a MY17, you had to forgo iDrive 5.0.

The point is.. buy what you want, if the car has what you want it to have. Every year (or every other year), there is either a new model, an LCI, or technology/performance bump of some sort.

Don't try to play catch-up. You want to wait for the 2nd year of the new model anyway. Get you car and in 3 years sell it and get the updated G20.

Do I want a 2019 M340i? Well yeah, of course. My problem is: I want ALL THE CARS.

My lease is up in a couple months, and I need to get something soon. With a lease, I can still get rid of it, if the M340i turns out to be the most amazing thing ever. BMW sure needs a home run with G20.

Also, I personally really like the looks of the F30. Always have, right from launch.

Now if my dealer could just find an allocation...

Disappointed in BMW for this. This is artificial way of making the models obsolete.
Before the f30 it used to be that you wait for the LCI and you had the latest until the next generation. Now it's really odd. Can you imagine how my13 owners are angry that such a huge idrive revision happened prior to the LCI? Who would have thought. And now even LCI owners aren't safe with further post LCI revisions.
