Key Fob
So I bought a key fob off eBay for my f30 because it's silver trimmed, which I like. According to search, I need only hold it up to the column with the original fob near and start the engine.
Is it really that simple? I don't need to have the physical key insert recut or anything? By the way, I'm new to all of this and have been loving this forum. Thank you in advance, everyone. |

You need to have the key recut for the glove box I believe. Not sure about coding. From what I understand, a dealer needs to do it because the encryption is protected and needs to go through the BMW servers. I could be totally wrong though.

I have no actual idea, but your proposed methodology sounds a little too easy to make duplicate keys, which would go well against common sense security.

But if it's a 3rd party fob you've got a BMW paper weight. |
