M2 vs... Hellcat?!

No, I'm not thinking of getting one!

I'm just curious to know if anyone has any lap time comparisons between the Hellcat (or any other muscle car). I'd imagine the M2 would actually complete a circuit in a quicker time, thanks to the handling advantage.

As I say, I'm just curious!

What's next, a M2 vs. F350 Superduty towing comparison?

Forget that too. The Charger Hellcat is at least a decent touring car. The Demon is useless outside a drag strip.

Thanks man, it was a boring night at work yesterday. (I started reading a USA Today article about the Dodge Demon, which got me wondering)

Some interesting stuff on there, and some very surprising results.

One of the local dealers who is also an enthusiast was talking about a couple of interesting things about Hellcats. They sell both Dodge and BMW FWIW.

He's seen quite a few races between Hellcats and a lot of other things. Says the autos do ok, but he's never seen a manual one win a single race. Driver error I guess. Said cars with 1/2 the HP smoke them. Drivers can't effectively put the power down.

Also said they have a constant stream of them coming in for big repairs. I asked if it was driver abuse or poor quality. He wasn't sure.

Those days muscle car poor handling are really over. Hellcat is old tech. Take a look at the Camaro ZL1 for example. Not much can touch it on any track for the price.

Probably some of both... I can say this because I own a Chrysler product, and I know many people with Dodges that have had big problems. Including my dad who had his whole steering rack go out on his Challenger. My mom had a power module go out on her Grand Cherokee that would run the battery down when the car was off. My Wrangler had a cylinder head go bad, front drive shaft locked up, rear axle seal leak, and some more miner problems. (All stock, no mods)

One guy at work had his brand new RAM 1500 just die whenever it wanted to. Another guy had his brand new RAM 2500 in the shop for weeks with a transmission problem. And others with RAMs over the years have had big problems.

Hellcat still has a cast iron block - old technology and heavy. Don't see the appeal.

I had a little bout with a Charger 392 Daytona. He wanted to come over to the right lane and cut me off as his lane was ending. No one was behind me but I guess he didn't want to fall in behind. He was loud as hell and I suspect he was floored but could not pass, but we were dead even, until he gave up/ran out of road. I am guessing a Hellcat would be faster, but he didn't make any sound off the line so didn't seem to have an issue hooking up. Just for clarity I do not own an M2, just a 135is with Dinan S2 tune.

Do you mean the BMW X6 or the General Dynamics Fighting Falcon? Both are F16s.
