Keep making videos. You only get better by learning from you mistakes.

Know you audience. Who is this video for? Perspective buyers or BMW owners who want to know some features that they might not have known about. Be focused on who your audience is so you don't bore them. I've already owned 4 BMWs, so I was pretty bored looking at the exterior of the car. Interesting tidbit about the comfort access. Did you have to code that? In the US, it's disabled. Expand on that. Give us info. Just make it digestible through editing.

Learn to edit. There's lots of dead air to edit out there. Especially when your fumbling with your keys etc. walking around. Getting in. Cut around it.

Don't rely only on live audio. Your live audio is bumpy and marred with background noise. It's okay to talk to the camera, but the rule of thumb is, if you want to talk to the camera, be on the camera for the most part. It's okay to go to a POV shot, but be sure your audio is succinct and clear, otherwise it looks amateurish. Watch old episodes of top gear or The Grand Tour in car review segments. Pay attention to the audio. When Clarkson is talking to the camera, there is usually a shot of him on the screen talking. Then you can cut away to other shots to help emphasize what he is talking about. Ie, he talks about the wing that extends at 45mph on camera. Then they cut to a shot of the wing. Then we are back on him for when he changes the subject. Notice when we cut away. Most of the time the audio sounds different because it is a recorded voice over. There is no environmental sounds, the wording has been scripted and perfected. There are very little pauses and "ums" and half spoken dialog. It's tight. It's succinct. It sounds intelligent because it has been thought about. We are trained as consumers of media to pay attention more when the audio is recorded as a voice over. It's clean and undistracted. It's professional. When something sounds professional, we pay attention because we subconsciously thing "wow they took the time to record the very clear voice over narration, they much have something interesting to say". And it's true. Take the time to write and record voice over narration and it will be more thought out than off the cuff talking behind the camera.

That intro is long and offputting. We all have specific tastes in music. However certain music is more polarizing than others. The music you chose is very polarizing, and intro music shouldn't be. It will chase away viewers. Part of producing content for big audiences is knowing how far you can push your personal tastes into people. You pushed too soon. It takes a level of trust and a deft hand to intrusive an audience to something they might not otherwise like. Just look at Tarantino films. He eared the audience's trust with his music selection. You need to earn yours before using this type of music. The intro isn't the place to do it.
I do this for a living btw.

Ha thanks! I'm even more critical of my photos, but I work professionally in film and TV production so I have more experience in it than photography.

Now that's some sound advice from jmg! Forget what other people think; I too thought it lacked skill but so what? You're excited about your BMW and have every right to be. To me, it was quite easy to "X" out of the video and I felt that no part of my life was wasted on it!

There are a ton of cool features and that 70 page thread will tell you almost every little "cool" feature there is. I for one learned a hell of a lot there.

OP, what's your favorite feature so far? Also, what car did you previously own? I owned a few Cadillac's before this myself.

Let me add something about the intro music. Listening to it again, it actually isn't so bad. part of what lets the audience accept the music is if you accompany it with something they WILL accept. Like the visuals. Your intro visuals are really bad, honestly, the wrong orientation, with a weird tilt, messy camera moves etc. I think you can keep this music, but really earn it by making those opening visuals really arresting and informative to the viewer. Even adding a title will do, because we will be reading something, and not so be reliant on the music to tell us something.

Look at the great use of editing, music, visuals, PACING, and sound:

Notice that the intro music is VERY muted, very soft. YET it gets us pumped up for what's about to happen. This is the calm before the storm. The viewer knows it's coming, the slow-mo shots are priming us, and it's one of the best ways to use slow-mo with real purpose, other than for it's own sake. Slow-mo, right before some regular speed action accentuates the speed in which the action takes place MORE than if you didn't have that slow-mo shot in the first place.

Your intro is almost the opposite. Loud music with a hard beat. Your visuals neither compliment nor contrast it, so it falls flat.

Anyway, I'm a nerd about editing, thought I would share.

WOW this is some great advice, I'm going to invest in a go pro camera and a video editing software asap ....my videos lean towards more on maintenance DIYS on my BMW but I am trying to become more professional at presenting my work...im in the car business as well so I pretty much have access to any vehicle I want to present...that video is pretty cool so I'm going to find a good software to use

You have to know who your audience is for a particular video. If this is a how to, then it should be a how to. There is no need for this music that 80% of your audience will turn off because it's annoying them. They just want to know how to change a cabin filter, they don't want to listen to music you think they want to listen to. Music can be tolerated in intros and exits more than throughout the entire video. There is also very little to take away from this video, since you didn't give any real instruction or insight. Where are the closups? What screws do I need to undo? What should I look out for? Where did you get the filter and how much was it? How long did it take you to do? What skill level is required to do this? When do I know it's time to change my filter? This is all important and interesting information for the viewer. Right now your video is pretty useless for anyone who really wants to change their cabin filter.

You gotta ask yourself if you are making a video about you or about the filter. There are ways to inject your style while still making the video useful and entertaining for other people. Lets put it this way: Anyone can put music that they like in their videos. People will simply close the window or mute it. It takes a deft hand to introduce music in way that people will digest it and then come to understand it and even like it as a signature of yours. This is going to sound harsh but no one cares about your style or how different you are unless they can take something away from it. It's how you use your style to enhance your content that will capture them. Just playing music over you doing something isn't enhancing anything with your music. It's just the laziest way to express yourself with little regard to the audience. It's like foreplay. You can't just start pumping away, you gotta warm things up a little. Get creative, don't just hit play.
