BMW 330i vs Alfa Giulia Veloce
Majority of the media or forum I've read has been comparing the Auadrifoglio to the M3 and C63. However, on the way to work today I saw the Veloce and it looks pretty damn good. Did more research and it might be my next car.
The Alfa Veloce fully loaded is priced at $85K (AUD) and my 330i fully loaded was $85K as well. The difference is the power is where it comes to play, 330i (185kW - 350nM) and Veloce (209kW - 415nM) So this car on paper looks better than the 330i, but what is the general thinking about this car. IMHO - looks better than the 330i, even with M-Sport |

Sounds like a good proposition. If i was buying with my heart i would at least give it a test drive.

With Alfa's miserable history as far as quality and reliability (at least here in the US), I'd never consider purchasing one. Spend a few dollars on a mild tune for your car and you'll have the same power and a much better vehicle.

I think the Veloce is similar to the Ti version here in the states? I drove the Ti several weeks ago and was very impressed by the driving dynamics. Also liked the interior...and like the exterior in general. Not sure about the front end, but at least it's different.
Much more info here: http://f30.bimmerpost.com/forums/sho....php?t=1351138 Ultimately decided not to pursue the Alfa and am ordering a 340i. Some bits of the car felt cheap, like the fuel filler door was thin plastic. Plus, didn't want to be part of the "development team" as Car & Driver wrote. Didn't care for the dealer experience either...they were clueless, also didn't give a crap whether I was interested or not. |

I think you are more right than wrong.

I drove a Giulia a few weeks ago, a TI version. I really liked it, though I only drove it round a couple of blocks. Feels very solid, excellent ride, steering is very quick - and maybe too light. What little handling I could try seemed super. 280 hp & 306 lb-ft.
$40k and the dealer was tacking on $4k for their good health. I'll wait until they can be talked down some. Have been considering a 2017 330i. The Giulia Quadrafogilo is the 505 HP version in the US. $72k. Jim |

This month's Motor Trend has a review of the Quad. Rated it best BUT noted the sad reliability history of Alfa and while they had no problem with the test model, they had two others breakdown.
So I think the Alfa looks like a very reasonable alternative but I think we all need to give it a few years to see if the company has gotten past its historic reliability issues. |
